Because it would be a colossal waste to take two jobs that have not only iconic appearances but also drastically different and unique playstyles and mash then into a single job. They want to stretch out their iconic Final fantasy jobs for options for future expansions and selling points. They should only he mixing/combining jobs for ones that don't have a solid identity or can't stand on their own.
Samurai and Blue Mage are not those kinds of jobs that would need it.
Exactly, though I will play devil's advocate say we already have some precedent of wasting the potential of Bard by mixing it with Ranger.Because it would be a colossal waste to take two jobs that have not only iconic appearances but also drastically different and unique playstyles and mash then into a single job. Not that I necessarily dislike the end result, I'm just thinking about what could have been.
I don't know, I'd argue that Bard in ffxiv is a positive example of what I'm talking about. Neither Bard nor Ranger have super distinct identities and visually what established style they have is pretty shared between them (tunics and feathered hats). FFXIV's bard is also a product of 1.0 which kind of played by slightly different rules.
It makes a lot more sense to combine ranger and bard, given they have a lot more overlap visually and mechanically from past games, as opposed to taking two very different jobs with very different visual identities and trying to cram them together.

Seems very unlikely to me. It would make more sense for them to create a BLU/DNC hybrid. Both classes can be easily tied to ala mhigo. And having them combined seems more plausible. I'm getting really curious what the eventual job will be though.

My theory is that both SAM and BLU will be in Stormblood. As we know SE is releasing only two classes at the start of the expansion. I believe this will be BLU, I think the creators and SE are being clever and playing the fans so to speak with the reveal of SAM later in the expansion.

Yoshi has already gone on record long ago that there will never be a mid expansion job released (Ala Rogue/Ninja) again. It created a massive strain on the Dev team and he won't put them through it again. I don't have a source but I'm sure others remember him saying it as well.My theory is that both SAM and BLU will be in Stormblood. Above and beyond that, Yoshi already mentioned that they are extremely ahead of schedule for 4.0, so why would they wait and release a job mid expansion? Just doesn't add up if you ask me.

The issue was creating a job, which as Yoshi roughly gave an estimation took a deent amount of time to fully balance and conceptualize, this was a huge mistake on their part because doing that during 2.x took dev time away while working on the expansion.
The key thing is that during the first fanfest there were two silhouettes on the screen saying "New Jobs" later it was asked if those silhouettes were related to the number of jobs releasing. He could have easily said yes, and held his earlier stance on the subject, but he didn't. It's perplexing.
Could it be because they are well ahead of development of 4.0 post launch? With the new budget have they increased their team size to a point where side projects are now possible?
Devs are fickle and we have a history with Yoshi and Devs not sticking to exact things they say in the past. Anything's possible with them, that's what I've come to learn.

well yeah things like "RDM couldnt be implemented in this game" and among other things. Supposedly it takes aCould it be because they are well ahead of development of 4.0 post launch? With the new budget have they increased their team size to a point where side projects are now possible?

year to make a new job" the samurai debate, however I'd conclude with statements in the past explaining why they decided to make DRK for HQ instead of SAM. Perhaps the job was pretty much complete, just needs some retooling, or whatever, so they got that almost done, now they had 2 years of HW to develop new jobs. At the least they could have 3 already imo and the budget helps too
Do I feel like it takes a full year to come up with a workable iconic FF job? I
ll actually leave that to debate, but for all purposes I feel like, most likely, we could see 3 even if one is implemented later(6 months). And you have to admit Nin I thought was probably better thought out and done, compared to some of the HW jobs.

Or they only showed two silhouettes because we only have two genders...
Considering there wasn't a "three silouhette" panel during HW first fanfest, why should we assume it is related ?
Yoshi-P don't answer even trivial questions because he likes us to speculate, not because there is a secret meaning behind everything.
