The new Job will be a DOH/DOL Job. It's Photographer. Think about it guys Yoshi P showed the new screenshot editor in game so that's what it is.
That's true he is not a bit of a chemist, he is a full one. In the Marvel universe Peter Parker has a Doctorate in Biochemistry. Also:
- His costume arbors mostly blue and red, matching the Stormblood color theme, which might explains why choosing that particular chemist and well known hero agmonst other potential ones as a class hint.
- Chemist is a job already existing in past Final Fantasy titles.
So I think its a good candidate
However we already have the DoH Alchemist in the game so.....

I dont really care what we will get, only that its fun to play (and maybe more than just two classes) but I still like the different ideas you all came up with. But about the colors in the trailer fight, I kinda remember that Yoshi P said something about it being just finished before the fanfest and that the colors at the last part were not planned to be there but the studio that created it put it there for artistic reasons. Not sure in which interview this was mentioned. Maybe they will have a meaning or maybe not but looking for every little clue in any bit of colors is a little too much imo.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
It's got to be a Blue Mage.
1. In the preview trailer for the expansion it shows a red woman, and a blue man fighting on top of some huge statue (2 min mark of the trailer)
2. Spiderman wears Red (Red Mage) and Blue (blue mage)
3. Spiderman absorbed the powers of the spider when he was bitten. A Blue Mage absorbs the powers of an enemy when they attack him/her.
The logic is there, but I am confused about the implementation, not long ago Yoshi P questioned blue mage by saying that it would need to be implemented in a way that was authentic and that XIV is not designed to allow blue mage mechanics. He then went on to say that if they discovered a way then it would be a job that would be considered.
My line of thinking is that BLU makes sense for spiderman, BLU does not make sense for the game right now, nor does it for Yoshi Ps comments.
Easy, you control what the BLU can absorb by only granting the abilities through their story quest. As BLU has always been a sort of hybrid throughout the games it has appeared in, the player could make choices throughout the class quests which would either make it a Tank, Healer, or DPS.
As an example at the start they could choose a quest path, such as 'Path of the bear' for tanking, or 'Path of the Slyph' for healing, etc. This choice could be reset for either a fee, or a quest to 'respec' your character to another Path.
I doubt it will be ANYTHING like that, but because I spent a whole 2 minutes thinking about it, I am guessing Yoshi P can come up with something that would work even better.
Considering that they plan to revamp the battle skills somewhat for the expansion, and given the fact that we don't really know how they plan to restructure it, I'd say it's entirely possible that it could happen.
A lot could have happened between the time he made that comment, and time the decisions were ultimately made. All I can say is I am looking forward to it, regardless of the outcome.
