how regular is it for a SMN to use ruin III outside of dreadwyrm? a FC member that i play with a bunch always asks me to feed em ewers so he can spam ruin III longer.
As much Ruin III spam as possible, usually allowing for a reserve of MP (to 3k or so MP, I go lower but I take risks!) We ask for Ewer because it's not a bad card for us, and it usually gets wasted if the next card following the Royal Road Ewer is bad. After one expert roulette run with an AST that threw all his Spear cards my way, I really learned to love that card, too, for bringing down my Aetherflow and associated burst commands down 20%, with the faster Aetherflows giving me more MP to spam Ruin III. Can Spear "miss"? Sure, if it lands in the first 40sec after I use Aetherflow, but it is situationally VERY USEFUL imo.

ok thanks a bunch. it was the 1st time i've ever really had a smn request ewers from me directly. i was just confused at first since i've never really paid attention to what a smn does other than dots and pets. i haven't really ewered randoms yet, but if/when i see some ruin IIIs i'll be sure to help em out.
actually if we take savage aside smns should be fine with their mp-managment even with ruin lll spam out of dw.ok thanks a bunch. it was the 1st time i've ever really had a smn request ewers from me directly. i was just confused at first since i've never really paid attention to what a smn does other than dots and pets. i haven't really ewered randoms yet, but if/when i see some ruin IIIs i'll be sure to help em out.
counting savage in as well they can get oom very fast. especially if there aren't any breaks to recover like in a9s... ewers are more than welcome here :3

friend managed to talk me into learning smn again. i levelled it to 52 before i got to ishgard then dropped it completely. one thing i can't remember is which egi is better for single target dps. just looking at their skill potencies, ifrit looks best atm. however garuda comes with contagion so idk

So I had completed my weapon before noticing that apparently SS > DET now. It's about 39 crystal sands or so to reallocate all my DET to SS, correct? Do you think it's worth the extra farming and would I be able to do it still if I moved on to the next stage of the anima quest?
You can sill do it even after you have upgraded your anima so don't worry about ring locked into certain stats. So I had completed my weapon before noticing that apparently SS > DET now. As for if you should or not is completely up to you. Personally I wouldn't bother unless you raid with SMN.
SS and det are both nice for smn as second stats, tho i started my anima with crit and SS, but quickly changed into det since i started raids :/ (griding sands max 2x for nuthing >_<)
good question hmm im switching through 2 different sets atm... can't choose the one which makes me more satisfy yet... current setup is 1010 crit 445 det 920 ss without food/pots but sometimes i go with 965 510 1000... if we are able to beat a12s maybe i'll go full ss again (even though it's a dps loss - i just love high ss on hard casting ruin lll or shadowflare)... – Anima, parked on retainer, is 133 crit/ss as well im just waiting for the next step to boost the int stat to the current tomb/savage weapons.
im looking to decrease the dot/ruin lll casttime under 2,00 secs with 4.0... best i can get atm is 2,22 secs but the loss of crit is sadly way to much... sticking with something around 600... : /
