    Please lift glamour restrictions!

If nothing else is changed about our glamour system, lifting the class/job restrictions would go a LONG way in making it more fun.

So, short story time! On my main, I've been leveling every available job. I started out by leveling everything 1-50 largely simultaneously (working in 5 level increments). Now I've begun the slow journey to moving things toward 60. As I go, I've been collecting gear I like the appearance of for use in future glamours. I'm sure you can imagine my inventory nightmare, considering I've been doing this for every single job, but that's not precisely what this thread is about. xD

I hit 60 on SMN/SCH most recently, and one thing I've been doing to level are the Ishgard hunt dailies, so I've been buying all my jobs the artifact gear with centurio seals. To be honest, although SCH is fun to play, I absolutely hate its artifact aesthetic, and the level 60 set is no exception - save for the cloak. I thought "Oh, let's see what I've got after all these levels and make this outfit better." I soon came to realize, however, that despite my armoury and retainers being chock full of gear (seriously, I'm not sure how I'm ever going to fit it all, once I finish leveling everything, and work toward getting other desired armor sets), I had very few options that were allowed for any one job. What I REALLY want to turn into an outfit is this:

That's the level 60 SCH artifact robe, Summoner's Thighboots and Waistcoat, Halonic Priest's Gloves, and Plundered Goggles. I think it looks really cool, but I think you can already see the issue here.

The excuses we've seen in the past for the class/job restrictions have revolved largely around keeping jobs to certain "looks", but honestly I think we can pretty much dismiss that excuse considering you can glamour swimsuits and all those other level 1 armors that have no particular role in mind. I feel that if I've earned the gear - through quest, instance drop, crafting, purchasing off the AH, etc - then I should be free to use it how I wish. Think of how many different outfits would suddenly open up to possibility if the restriction were lifted! As it is now, the restrictions are a huge hamper on creativity, and you end up with a situation where many people look very similar - because our toolbox is extremely limited.

Let the creativity flow, SE! (Oh, and please implement a Glamour Wardrobe~)

I second this idea! Mostly cause I really like the BRD artifact pants cause they have that half leg and that's really cool and I could come up with some really cool Glams for tons of jobs off that one pair of pants!

Seriously these things even feel like they would fit MCH more then BRD, but that's my opinion. Overall, lifting the class/job restrictions on Glamours would really allow for some crazy cool outfits to be made and let us overall make something that is unique to us and conveys us as best as possible.

No offense but, stuff like this does not contribute to the conversation at all. So if all you have to say is "No." then maybe let others discuss, or try to convey your "No." in a more detailed argument. Cause this adds nothing to the conversation.

Never gonna happen, they already said it's not possible because of the way it's designed and PvP iirc (which is a stupid excuse cause you can pvp in bikini....)

This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.

Jobs should be able to have gear that is exclusive to them. We don't need Dark Knights wearing the White Mage robe. Etc. It robs the jobs of their unique identity, and "w-well you can glamour other unfitting stuff already so it should be okay!!" isn't a good enough argument for breaking down this barrier.

Why should jobs have unique glamours? Can you answer that question without effectively just saying "because they should", in a way that isn't contradicted by gear already present in the game?

I mean, my character in the main story has been referred to as both Azure Dragoon, a capable white mage, recognized as knowledgeable in black magic, and more. Why would she suddenly forget how to wear an article of clothing because she picked up one weapon or another?

And that's beside the fact that I think glamour (as in all character customization) needs to step away from restricting players and just let folk do what they want. It's no fun only being able to make an outfit out of the same highly limited set of items as every other Scholar or whatever.

I agree with that to a point, while yes the idea of a DRK wearing WHM robes is silly, the current glamour system allows for equally silly things. Keep in mind, I agree with your overall point but from a standpoint of just allowing creativity, I agree with lifting the restrictions. At least to a degree. Things like the arachane tops and other more generic pieces of clothing that for some reason have class restrictions, shouldn't have those class restrictions.

Same for some dungeon sets that are essentially the same thing just recolored several times over, the Woad sets from Sohm Al for example. Having glamour restrictions on these is just silly. Least in my opinion. Things however like the Dark Knight's armor? Yeah, that should remain exclusive to them. But then you have stuff that just overlaps to degrees, like in my opinion the BRD artifact set at 60 is just a mishmash of several different things we've seen plenty of with a couple flares added to it. The most unique thing to that set is the pants.

This is a tricky question of where do you draw the line? And just drawing it in such a narrow way, stiffles creativity. I'm not gonna have my monk fighting in the BLM robes, that's silly. But if I had those BRD pants...I could create something very fitting of monk in a street brawler kind of way. Again, lets work to let jobs keep their identity but overall...lets not limit the creativity of everyone either.

Well, in that case, I should be able to equip any weapon as any job!! And use all of my job's abilities at once!! Why should I suddenly forget how to cast White Magic just because I picked up a Greatsword????? Well why can't I have Garuda-Egi out as a Black Mage, huh!? Why is my level lower when I equip a job that's lower than my main? Shouldn't they all be level 60, since I've already gotten to level 60 before? Gee Square Enix, talk about a bad game design!!

That's how I also partially agree with the glamour reestrictions removal. Keeping them to these sets (tomestones, raids, AF) that give the job their identity is one thing, but dungeons drops look kinda generic and should be available for all jobs. They are also nice looking pieces.
