I really hate the bikini clad people in dungeons. Ideally I would like some of the restrictions extended, not removed... One of the reasons I like RPGs is you generally have to dress to your role and fit into the rules of the universe.

That said, more general use glamour items that fit the role but expand available glamours would be welcome. Like you say, some boots would look just as nice and fit the aesthetic of a job that can't equip them currently.

It's actually more of a guideline.

Case in point: The MNK 2 AF. You can get that at level 60 regardless of whether you have did the quests and opened your chakras or if you still only have the one from the introductory quest. Lorewise, you'd bleed out your lifeforce at a massive rate like that. Gameplay wise? No issues whatsoever.

Personally, I'd rather there be more restrictions on what you can glamour (bikinis in dungeons is dumb, imo).
Agreed, though I was merely using the BRD pants as an overall example. I still agree that a job's artifact gear should remain exclusive to them. I'm just also giving arguments for both sides really cause I enjoy discussion.

(Also yeah, the bikini thing is kinda derp.)

This game to me because of the thirteen on one should have the most engaging glamour system than any other game. I would like to be reminded that I have the power to play all jobs restrictions exist in games where u have one job per character. No such thing exist in this game therefore what's the point in exclusive gear remember glamour is optional so if someone wants to wear gear for their roll go ahead, but I want to tie all mine together.

Bad analogy and completely different situation. xD We're not talking about uniforms that are required to be worn for a job you're paid to do at a company. It's just clothes, and you're just adventuring.

I mean, my character in the main story has been referred to as both Azure Dragoon, a capable white mage, recognized as knowledgeable in black magic, and more. Why would she suddenly forget how to wear an article of clothing because she picked up one weapon or another?

And that's beside the fact that I think glamour (as in all character customization) needs to step away from restricting players and just let folk do what they want. It's no fun only being able to make an outfit out of the same highly limited set of items as every other Scholar or whatever.
This is very simple to answer.
The system is simply not designed for this. The game still thinks you are wearing that item somewhere.
It is also the reason why you cannot glamour items that are above your level while you still have the correct job.
To do what you want will probably require a whole revision of the glamour system, if not the whole armor system of the game.

Then you get to wear something generic that every job can, like a shirt and pants.

Hey, why does that sound familiar?

*shrug* I don't see why not. I just want folk to be able to wear what they want when they want it. There's no lore in the game that says it's physically impossible to glamour boots from an old summoner outfit onto some boots labeled scholar. Heck, there's no lore that I can find at all surrounding the level 60 artifact armors. The job restriction is pure gameplay, not lore.

    Precisely!

I prefer Job Specific Gear to stay exclusive (Artifact Armors). This is not only for lore reasons, but to preserve iconic look of a 30 year old IP and its jobs/classes. Arguing against it is rather moot imo, as outside of those armor sets, look at everything available to you that would become unlocked. You would have a ton of options available to you compared to the current system.

I feel like Tomestone Gear should be restricted, but beyond that I don't see a point beyond enforcing a specific visual aesthetic such as tanks in plate or such. I'm also 100% behind removing Gender Restrictions on all gear.
