You're only preventing yourself from progressing by not raiding, which is still a part of the game. Decide not to raid and accept that it takes a bit longer to get the same ilvl gear. As for removing some strain, just knowing how to play a job is enough for that.

The erratum that changed your point from synced iLvl to synced leve. Synced level still has synced iLvl to it, for example Keeper of the Lake will still sync your ilvl to the maximum possible in ARR (130 and 135 for the weapon).
But this point is moot, since all the PvP modes have synced iLvl anyway (Lvl 60 PvP syncs down to i150, lvl 50 PvP syncs down to i80).
