And plenty of people are jumping ship on Legion too. Some coming here, some going elsewhere, a few of them foolishly holding out hope that Star Citizen will one day come out and be the best thing since sex.
It's a two way street, or rather, a series of intersections.

I'd love to find this magical MMO that pleases 100% of it's fan base 100% of the time, and siphons the life blood out of other MMO subscription numbers like the denizens of a fat camp for vampires. Such a game doesn't, however, exist.

Based on a number of interviews, things aren't really going to change at all because their current formula works.(I'm strictly speaking subscription wise) It's a shame too. I've already exhausted most of what interested me in 3.4 in one day(msq, hildibrand, scholastate, creator and.....that's it. i can't think of anything else except sophia which i'm working on) and I took plenty of breaks. I used to raid in Savage, but with top level gear only being useful for simply farming the same content you get it from, I pretty much lost motivation. Simply raiding for the challenge can only motivate me so much. I guess for the rest of the month, i'll just pointlessly spawn S ranks on my server. I would gear up, but why not wait until 3.5 where the game floods you with catch up content? I wish the stuff in this game wasn't so "ocean wide, pond deep".

Of course it will. Legion is an entire expansion following over a year long content drought. Not to mention, it's coming off the heels of arguably the worst expansion WoW has ever released. People are curious whether Wow can rebound. FFXIV, comparatively, is releasing only a patch to its nearly sixteen month old expansion. The equivalent would be people clamouring how much better XIV is next year when its own expansion is out against the then year old Legion. FFXIV could certainly aim for improvement, but you cannot fairly compare a patch cycle to a full blown expansion.

Quite a few of my friends got bored of Legion already and back at FFXIV. They seem to think that was fun for a bit but then it became kinda pointless. The game been around for so long that its become dated.

    Right.

Well I see that arguing this is completely pointless because people are bringing up things that I already answered in my original post.

I will no longer be answering this thread and it can be locked/deleted/ignored.

My point simply was that the world of XIV in comparisson to other MMORPGs is VERY TINY because of all of the fast travel options. Even compared to say Runescape (which I would rank 2nd for having the most fast travel options of any MMORPG).

I will be doing my patch 3.4 content and logging in for my dailies. Other than that, WoW and Runescape has taken my sub. I will likely not be renewing it until next patch cycle as I have absolutely no interest in wasting time grinding the hamster wheel.

Learning from your competition isn't a bad thing, even WoW seems to have copied the relics in FFXIV slightly. I think Yoshida knows that best, but unfortunately he doesn't have the money 10m+ subscribers generates a month and SE is likely giving their team scraps while they milk the cash shop to finance FFXV.

My suggestion to OP is to just well, play them both. You can buy WoW game time with gold which is incredibly easy to acquire, when you burn out on one player the other. MMORPGs just don't put out enough content that's actually fun for an extended period.

I've got two 110s on WoW, both geared for Mythics and I've played WoW for a looooong time. I just resubbed a few days ago to XIV, and you can expect to see foreign Azerothians popping up in Eorzea over the coming months.

Other than that, WoW has taken my sub. I will likely not be renewing it until next patch cycle as I have absolutely no interest in wasting time grinding the hamster wheel.
You're tossing yourself into yet another hamster wheel.
    -Artifact Power
    -Time gating
    -Forced rep grinding
    -Gated content
-Mission tables, artifact research and class hall upgrades that take upwards of days and weeks.

    Best of luck to you.

That is indeed true, but when one person says, "You are losing my sub to WoW" and the follow up is "You should probably go play WoW", i get kinda confused.

Hmm, I feel you both failed to understand the point of my post. Either that, or you were not actually replying to me, but simply adding your own thoughts on the subject following what I said?

I did say in my initial post on page 1 that it is unfair to compare Legion and Heavensward atm, as Heavensward has been out way longer.

I agree with your points, especially the above one. Sadly FFXIV is being held back a lot by the PS3. WoW is able to expand on areas like Open world, FFXIV cannot do this due to Console limitations.
To give you an example, idyllshire and the Dravanian Hinterlands were supposed to be one zone..however they pushed things to the limit and were not able to join them on the same map.

Hopefully in 4.0 they will drop PS3 support and then start working on building up zones and removing zone lines.

Wow could have 50 gillion subbers and be king as it is now and I wouldn't play it. This game is already too similar to WoW. If WoW is on x end of the direction this game is going, I want to see it go 1/2 to the other end more similar to game like XI,ESO, Guild Wars 2, and Dark Souls. My main problem here is quick ilvl refreshes, things not coming here due to strict balance, and too much focus on instances.

Nothing against WoW and I'm sure it is a good game in it's own right or it wouldn't be as popular as it is, it's just not the type of game I can invest in. WoW will lose subscribers to the next XIV expansion and other games too, so I am not panicking there. I think my major dislike of it is the cartoony atmosphere and HD ps2 era graphics for the most part.

I am a little biased in that I love the Final Fantasy universe. To be honest I would probably play XI more than this if it got an HD graphics overhaul and I didn't play it for 8 years. Simply because while balance is important, I think it should take a back seat when it prevents things from being added personally.
