Completely disagree. There are different types of respect. Some can be earned, sure. For example, in order to be respected specifically as a great healer, then yeah, you better put in the effort to justify it. However, in order to be respected as a player, and you know, a person? This respect should not be earned, because just by breathing we all should already have it.


Of course, certain behavior will make you lose respect for someone, but if your status quo is not respecting anyone until they earn your subjective notion of respect, then I'd say you have big social problems.

For the record, I am a big advocate of healer DPS. I'm one of those who curses under his breath when someone takes unnecessary damage and forces me to come out of CS. But I am a much, MUCH bigger advocate of civility, empathy and understanding. One shouldn't have to demand to be treated well. People treating others well should be the damn norm. With the exceptions being either being treated like shit for actually earning it with terrible behavior, or being treated extraordinarily well for putting great effort and hard work.
