DPSing as a healer

No healer is required to dps, you are free to choose not to. That said, you have dps skills and you have a lot of downtime. Some groups are going to wonder why you're not contributing during that time. It's very rare to be kicked for it, but it is an acceptable reason to kick someone because it's a "playstyle difference." Therefore, if you don't want to worry about that (very small) chance it will cause a conflict, then you should be open to the idea of DPSing. /thread

And this is what's wrong with Healers in general. They're the only class that thinks it's okay to stand around and do jack squat 70% of the time.

By that logic, I'm free to not use abilities on my NIN or Enochian/F4 on my BLM. L2P

Play a healer and you can do the same. lol

Every tank just needs to cross class flash and spam it for entire dungeons. Why pop tank cds either. I mean why should tanks have to hold aggro AND mitigate damage as well. It's not like the game gives all classes ample opportunity to do things outside of their role. (E4e, virus, Apocatastasis)

I really can't give a flying duck about DF BLMs using Virus/Apoc or not, DF SMN raising or not, Bard singing or not. I think you guys should just let go when on DF.

About CS, I keep what I said: if a healer is letting the tank die because he entered Cleric, he would let the tank die without Cleric too. If because of 5 seconds your tank is dying, something is wrong with you or his mitigation.

I can't play badly on purpose. I'm leveling a Scholar solely because healers are so bad of late. It's level 45 now. It'd be 60 if not for Yo-Kai.

Yesterday in Void Ark (READ VOID ARK FFS) we had TWO healers do ZERO damage the entire run (one had 4.44 DPS one fight, the other's highest was 1.2 DPS pretty they just did it by accident) and they still let FIVE people die from completely preventable deaths (the towers on Cuchalaine for example-took over 15 seconds for me to die). These weren't standing in the stupid either, these were just regular damage deaths. Healers are just becoming worse and worse because people keep defending terrible play on the forums and in-game.
At this rate, end game will eventually be impossible as the healer skill drops like a rock.

That's because they're just bad, not because they were not DPSing. If people are dying to towers, your party has lack of heals or lack of dps numbers from DPS classes. And I think you're just unlucky. I run VA 5 times weekly and 99% of the runs no one comes close to dying.

You should be using it to farm fates, i got my drk from 36 to 55 to get the glowing mount. I think the only thing i did except fates was a potd, the rest was all fate grind.

Correct, they are bad. I don't disagree with you. But part of the reason they are bad is because people just let healers be bad. When you lower the skill floor by removing half the job, you just make worse healers. Because they can't react fast when they need to, and just can't cope with the game in general when it gets more complicated (I mean Void Ark isn't even hard)
