Are you god damn kidding me?Really? Thats awesome hopefully i can get plvld to 45 (im 38)And kill off the last 5 lvls so i can fight hard mode ifrit with my ls, if that can happen by the end of the week then im super excited. I still have all my other classes to level, gear up and add materia to. Thats a ton of content right there. Theres also the quests i need to complete and crafting/ gathering to do. I really dont think i can acomplish all that by the time new primals come out, as i do have a life >.>
You actually believe that powerleveling to max level in like 8 hours is acceptable?
Ok, why not just start the game fully geared, inside the Ifrit instance, in a party. I mean why not, let's just cut to the chase. Screw the working up to it. This leveling nonsense is tiresome. Let's just make the game a circular room with doors to a bunch of different raids. Sounds like an RPG to me!
waaaaah waaaaaah
Allow me to provide a counter-example with another MMO: City of Heroes. Are you people arguing that this shouldn't be fixed completely crazy?
There isn't even 10% of the end game content they'd need to satisfy advancement as rapid as this. Even if you argue leveling should be easy or nonexistent and the game should focus on content for high levels, that content needs to exist before people get there and right now it doesn't. How can anyone be in favor of this?
For the vast majority of its' lifespan, it has not had an endgame other than "create a new character"; only recently (in 2010) have they added something resembling an endgame. It has always had power-leveling. Recently (in 2009), they added a new system to the game that allows players to hit max level in hours. Said system allows the proper "class" (archetype and power sets) to self-PL to max level in approximately seven hours; sometimes faster.
City of Heroes released in 2004. Its' still going, still populated and still profitable.
Just to reference one such game that tolerates, if not necessarily encourages, rapid power-leveling. FFXIV would love such a long-term paying population.
Can you take me higher?
People that reach level 50 using power level don´t know how to play their class. That punishment enough. So instead you learn how to play @ 50, try to learn while you level.
If it takes 8 hours total then yes i am ok with it, assuming my plvl wants to spend 8 hours plvling me instead of working on his own character. I have many classes to lvl and even if i can lvl that quickly my main source of content will be improving all of those classes which will not take only 8 hours. Plus i also have a ton of gathering / crafting to do as i said in my last post, so if i can finish my Dom DoW off and concentrate on that then id say this system is perfect. Are you god damn kidding me?

I do not want to spend a year to lvl my main class half way as well as improving / lvling jobs in between to finally be able to lvl the rest of my main class for another half year like i did in XI, while the develepors push content i cant do. Even if its quick its not instant, its still there. And god bless the person who plvls all my classes 1-50, as i dont think that person will exist for me, or for many other players. Maybe once in a while i will receive plvl treatment but i dont think it will be all the time. If a mmo came out that removed the need for lvling and had a different progression type id be all for it as long as it works out well.

STOP WHINING AND PLAY THE GAME, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN PEOPLE GETS A CHANCE TO GIVE THEIR OP.
These threads seem like a common trend. Almost as if an organized group is pushing for FFXIV extinction
Yoshi said: if ppl want to PL then let them.
OP is overdramaticizing his point. I mean he even took the time to bold the inflection of his words.
The truth: 50 is far from what cap will be. SE knows this. Doesnt matter if players get 50 fast, for three main reasons:
- A good bit of MMOs capitalize on End Game more so than lower lvl play because there are massive timesinks in End Game. This isnt to say that low lvl play doesnt get focus too. Lets be honest: when you play a MMO your dreams are those of grandeur. You wanna be that epic looking player in that epic dungeon doing epic stuff working for that epic super long time sink gear.
- lvl caps: lvl caps increment as you lvl up. This is all part of predetermined balancing done by pp who get paid as their job to do so accurately. So youre telling me the OP who has zero credibility as a expert in these matters is a step ahead of the actual games developers? Lol
- PLing is a choice. The unskilled player who accepts PLs is less likely to smoothly adapt into the higher tiers of his class/job. He then has to live with the reprecussions of his decision. A already skilled/knowledgeable player, however, maybe PLd for different reasons: required sub abilities in order to play his class at full efficiency or quickly lvling a class to 50 so he can help his LS which is short on DPS players.
OP will most likely refute and argue these points, which is only a further testament to ignorance.
Yoshi knows this games mechanics inside and out. Until the OP becomes of same level wisdom and knowledge please just crawl back under the bridge and quit defaming this mans latest masterpiece.
When you do "power level" in other MMOs you have a logical limit: you have to do the first or the final bash to the monster (depends of the game), or if your friend is too high, you don't receive a lot of exp. But here, in FFXIV, you receive too much experience points with a Full Party with a character Level 50 killing mobs very fast. Why? It has no sense at all! I like the idea, but it's too much!
They destroyed the game balance allowing people to be 50 in two days. And it's offensive to people who already is 50. What will happen when PS3 players start the game? Everyone will be 50s, and they are going to powerlevel to 50 in 8 hours or less. This is not a good experience to start, I think.
People are going to powerlevel for everything: goodbye low level instances, goodbye low-mid...high level parties. The game will be this: "Powerlevel Party @4/8 Do you need it?".
I loved this game and I'm here since Open Beta. I'm a fan of Yoishi's work, but this is ridiculous. I can't find a good solution for this. An update? People are powerleveling like crazies right now. They can do a rollback, but I don't think they are going to do that.
Ok, now?
I agree with OP.
I hope they fix the leve Exp and PL potential abuse and standardization. I knew the claiming changes would make PL rediculously high. Im just hoping they fix it. Its like every patch makes lvling faster then it gets fixed. Hope they just fix it and leave exp gains alone. Most players pick this game cause lvling is rewarding, (especially) now that there are more things to do WHILE leveling up, it shouldnt be so fast of a process. Theres no rush to getting to 50, most stuff is for pre-50 players. Darkhold and hard(i liked "hyper") ifrit. No need to rush to 50
It sounds like most fans who have been playing awhile agree: if leveling speed is as fast as it is now, it could really mess up the game, but thats what u get when youre dealing with PC players, especially since were not payin yet. I know it could ruin it for me, its always been my breaking point, LOVE everything else.
Hopefully the PS3 release will bring a ton of JP and long time FF fans who will actually pay monthly. Thats the update im waiting for most of all. Hopefully then the junk normal MMO/PC players get put in will be corrected.
It's ultimately up to SE, i do think they may be listening to player input too much and too soon.
Oh well, we'll see.
