Sadly 2 weeks is too much for some people, they want to be at the end game now not later. It's not that bad - I started the game during last patch of ARR and got through whole leveling process and all MSQ in two weeks.
And heck, all that content was new to me. It was like living a dream, nice amount of fresh content. -- While now I'm just twiddling my fingers, waiting for them to add more story.
That is what I don't understand. It's not like you'll be able to do end game content even with a lvl60 jump potion. If anything it would make the gaming experience of a new player far worse due to the lack of experience and knowing how the job works, or even how the game itself works. I terrifies me to think about doing, let's say, Dusk Vigil with someone that started to play three hours ago and just bought a "reach HW as fast as possible" potion at the cash shop. That person would probably get frustrated and be booted out of the duty, or in the worst case scenario you, or me, or anyone else could even end up on a party with 3 people like that. They don't say 1 to 50 is the Tutorial for nothing.
Unfortunately this sound argument will fall on deaf ears with the people who don't want to put effort into old content to be able to do the new, in their mind they want to be doing what the long time players are doing right now and not be left behind or have to wait in slower queues for the old content, although granted the roulettes and mentor stuff does help to alleviate this a lot compared to say WoW were the old content is utterly irrelevant.
But yeah honestly we've all had to do the content so all new players should have to experience the same or they ultimately won't learn anything or appreciate the game before them. They jump to 60, reach the end game in a week or two instead of getting to know and understand the game for a month or two and then complain at a lack of content despite the fact they just used a potion to skip 90% of it so really they have no right to complain, they refused to do the content that everyone else had to do.
You mention how they don't know how their jobs play but sadly already the majority of players playing now don't know how to play their jobs. It seems people don't truly understand how this works because they are comparing it to a Free to Play game when you could instead compare it to WoW where they boost you but also explain the role and skills you have so your somewhat up to speed. You act like not using the leveling potion will somehow make them know their role but it doesn't. I have done plenty of leveling dungeons and even though they are new players and leveling they have no idea what they are doing most of the time and struggle to keep aggro on stuff, doing damage or even healing.
The fact that they brought this up is because they know its a issue themselves and they have had feedback on that and im sure they can see how many new players have come into the game. I can say with confidence the amount of new players coming into this game is really low.
Think about it if one new player doesn't like the starting of the game and leave they will tell their friend and that person will get turned off from it and then its a domino effect.

I understand your point and it makes sense.
But being honest I would feel even more leaning to drop the game if I suddenly had 3 bars full of skills I have no idea how to work with than gettin each of em slowly while I do my duties, even if very poorly. I think there's a difference between being a progressive bad player and brand new bad player with the power to get access to content before it's time for it. It's not only about levels and skills, but also about gear, items, aggro management, positioning, and a lot of other things in and outside the duty.
I'm pretty sure SE wouldn't just give a potion and leave your character out in the streets with 100 gil in the pocket either, and that address another issue. I see a lot of people comparing it to WoW but the difference is that WoW is a game dificult to catch up to, content wise and progression wise. While FFXIV, compared to both WoW and XI already holds your hand from level 1 to 60 so you can catch up to veteran players with minimum effort.
Maybe when we have two more expansions that might come necessary. But right now I don't think that potion is needed. Instead SE should just redo the MSQ system and cut out the whole 'be a delivery boy' thing to make it less "search for rocks in the desert" and more "let's get into action".

Yeah even though I don't really have an issue with the filler, as the game gets bigger and bigger they could easily trim it all down to just small cutscenes and conversations instead of going to x and doing y and then returning to z so you can get the big cutscene a.Maybe when we have two more expansions that might come necessary. But right now I don't think that potion is needed. Instead SE should just redo the MSQ system and cut out the whole 'be a delivery boy' thing to make it less "search for rocks in the desert" and more "let's get into action".
It'd be a simple matter for them to up the exp on the primary MSQ stuff to compensate for the filler being gone or trimmed down.
I've seen people with multiple level 60s do much worse than some of the new peeps on their very first. The amount of time spent in the game is in no way a guarantee that someone is actually capable of playing well. And running up and down to do fetch quests and look at cut scenes does not make you a better player either.
Too bad for those people. The standard payment model for this game is a 1 month period. And I'm sure SE, as well as everyone else, would like a player to enjoy and be part of the game FAR longer that 1 month. If you can't put in 2 weeks, I don't think that's a demographic that needs to be catered to.
Think they maybe need to find a different game then cause MMOs are mean to be time consuming, end game is not really that entertaining once you get to it. There what 2 dungeons and 1 raid?
