I still can't understand why they didn't allow this to begin with. I have to wonder if SE assumed we wouldn't even bother with alts as we can't even mail to characters on our own account.
I assume this is the case. I really wish they would allow mailing to alts. I can still shuffle stuff around my alts via the FC chest so the restriction isn't really preventing anything.. just adding a layer of annoyance.
Let's be real.
1. One this will never happen because they will never allow atls to share things with main.
2. It's already too late because many had already done this and it won't be fair for those who want to do the same thing.
3. It is why the auto demolish was made for, so that houses que opening from time to time so that active players can get them.
4. Stop the crying, get the money and buy one when 3.3 goes live.
Only provided they first have an opportunity to buy seven Free Companies, or can convince tons of extra people to join each of their alts' FCs and level them up.
It's possible to level a one-person FC all the way up to rank 6, where housing is unlocked, but only with a character you're playing a lot. It isn't going to happen if you make separate one-person FCs for each of your lesser-played alts. Most of those alts aren't likely to have enough activity by themselves to rank up an FC (well, maybe after several years of occasional activity, but not in any sort of reasonable timeframe).
It's not like you create a one-person FC and can then just go buy a house with it. Rank 6 takes quite a while with just one person's activity to boost it with. And with only 1/8 of one person's activity, it'd take longer than most people will play an MMO.
Apparently you also "only" need to earn 86,000 free company points to take it from level 1 to 6. I say only in quotes because it's still not exactly a walk in the park, but someone in one of my linkshells is currently levelling a FC up, solo, for this purpose and in just over a week he's got it from 1 to rank 5. I'm not sure what methods he's using, but I suspect he'll have 6 before the weekend, so that's less than 2 weeks.
I suspect what a lot of multiple FC people are doing though is putting their main character in a new FC, just playing the game and when the FC hits 6, transfer ownership to an alt (which only needs to be a level 1 new character) and then create a new FC and start over.
One person with two accounts can do this quite easily (I think there's probably quite a few of us with multiple accounts for various reasons?). You just create the FC on one, and create a few alts on the other to join it. They don't have to stay in the FC, just sign it so it gets created.
I wasn't referring to creating the FC. That part is easy enough. The part you cut out of the quote "and level them up" is what I was referring to needing active players for. It takes a lot of activity by members of an FC before that FC is eligible to buy a house. Not many players will be able to solo that eight times over, to accomplish it for each of their available alts. One person with two accounts can do this quite easily (I think there's probably quite a few of us with multiple accounts for various reasons?). (And I'm not saying the conceptual possibility of leveling up eight different FCs by yourself doesn't exist. But if one player in a million does it, that's not going to impact housing much.)
I've done this before already in one day. It's possible to level a one-person FC all the way up to rank 6, where housing is unlocked, but only with a character you're playing a lot. It isn't going to happen if you make separate one-person FCs for each of your lesser-played alts. I made a joke about it before, but its kind of true. If they put a lock on Airships, so that you need at least say 4 people who log in once a week in the FC, your Airship is forced to stay in the docks. Same with the other Benefits, such as gardening. *rage incoming Q.Q*
You mean I need to get my friends' alts into the FC now? /sigh
Sure! 4 FC houses would require that each of you would need 4 alts, assuming your Main is in a real FC and that these Fcs are for storage/personal use. Thats 16 Alts if you each wanted an FC house. Not everyone is gonna go through that effort. Don't forget to have them log on each alt, at least once a week or you'll lose your privileges!
