What do you consider "own a house on their account"? Is an FC house a "house on their account"? Are people who own an FC house not allowed a personal house? If a person has a personal house, can they not buy one for their FC?

As long as people can buy an FC house even if they have a personal, people can buy up to 8 extra houses.

A way to look at it is to compare someone who is in an FC that owns a house or is part of an FC that owns a house, to someone who is either in or not in an FC that does not own a house. There are people who do not have access to housing at all, that wish to take up the opportunity in patch 3.3.
They should be allowed to do so without having to compete with those that already have access to a house. If people weren't flipping houses it might be a different story. If SE put a stop to people flipping houses it might be a different story.

If we're going with that, then I believe we should only allow FC houses as that would increase the amount of people who get access to housing the most.

Only provided they first have an opportunity to buy seven Free Companies, or can convince tons of extra people to join each of their alts' FCs and level them up.

It's possible to level a one-person FC all the way up to rank 6, where housing is unlocked, but only with a character you're playing a lot. It isn't going to happen if you make separate one-person FCs for each of your lesser-played alts. Most of those alts aren't likely to have enough activity by themselves to rank up an FC (well, maybe after several years of occasional activity, but not in any sort of reasonable timeframe).

It's not like you create a one-person FC and can then just go buy a house with it. Rank 6 takes quite a while with just one person's activity to boost it with. And with only 1/8 of one person's activity, it'd take longer than most people will play an MMO.

Apparently you also "only" need to earn 86,000 free company points to take it from level 1 to 6. I say only in quotes because it's still not exactly a walk in the park, but someone in one of my linkshells is currently levelling a FC up, solo, for this purpose and in just over a week he's got it from 1 to rank 5. I'm not sure what methods he's using, but I suspect he'll have 6 before the weekend, so that's less than 2 weeks.

I suspect what a lot of multiple FC people are doing though is putting their main character in a new FC, just playing the game and when the FC hits 6, transfer ownership to an alt (which only needs to be a level 1 new character) and then create a new FC and start over.

One person with two accounts can do this quite easily (I think there's probably quite a few of us with multiple accounts for various reasons?). You just create the FC on one, and create a few alts on the other to join it. They don't have to stay in the FC, just sign it so it gets created.

I've done this before already in one day.
