    And with your current sks:

Turns out I didn't even need to account for skill speed, since it's always a gain to do that.

It's an 18% increase in potency over that span either way. I of course assumed TwS and DK were both active for every hit since they should be. The biggest reason why this would be a dps loss is not because of this particular moment, but because of a later moment, when you lose greased lightning. If you - at any point - drop GL3 due to mechanics, and you burned your PB on this, you're stuck spending a far greater time ramping up than if you GL off the bat. (That is - 7 gcds at not-gl3 as opposed to 3)

I also forgot Fists of Fire, but adding a buff to every hit on either side won't change the relationship.
    Saw this in another thread.

This led me to ask if a better opener is :

    Form Shift X 3 > Snap > Perfect Balance > Snap > Demo > Tornado Kick > Snap > Snap > Snap ...

What do you guys think? The one big thing I notice is that you will end up having Dragon Kick off at least 6 More skills than you would have had previously, not to mention oGCDs, which makes me think this isn't that great of an idea but I haven't done the hard numbers.

this opener was theorycrafted back in 3.0, and ultimately it was never as strong as the ones that are currently being used for the exact reasons you mentioned.

Mind if I ask what's the current Meta opener? I just got back into the game and I quit a long time ago and I main Monk at that time. I'm looking to play Monk again so I would love to know good openers. There's 2 openers listed in the first post of the thread but I don't know which one to follow.

Everyone and their Grandmother uses the demo>pb opener exclusively, but I use both depending on the fight.

If the boss does have a mechanic that forces you to not attack it very soon after the pull, I use the demo>pb one.

If the boss doesn't, I use the snap>pb one.

    That's just me though.

I just looked at the openers and I have a question with this particular one:

(PB) Demo --> Snap --> Snap (B4B) --> DK (IR) --> TwS (Pot) --> ToD (Elixir Field) --> Boot (Steel Peak) --> True (Howling Fist) --> Snap

(Forbidden C) --> DK --> TWS --> Demo (Pot falls off).

Does this opener not include a coeurl form shit and just shoulder tackle? The other opener on the front page I saw starts off at Snap Punch so I can safely assume that this opener uses coeurl form shift pre pull then shoulder tackle and then the opener.

That opener does not use form shift as you can see there isn't a 3rd snap at the end of PB.

As for what rotation is the current best, there is 2 basic ones that Phireblast mentioned, then there is Ossoms new opener which is somewhere on the last 10 pages iirc. Ossoms opener is probably the one that is the strongest. But overall the best opener is one that is adjusted for each fight.

A lot of people seem confused about the opener I posted, so let me give it a quick update. Also, no, it doesn't include Form Shift since it's not necessarily a DPS increase anymore. Imo, it's just annoying to do it everytime before your opener.

[ST STARTER] (which I use in most encounters)

Shoulder Tackle -->(PB) Demo --> Snap --> Snap (B4B) --> DK (IR) --> TwS (Pot) --> ToD (Elixir Field) --> Boot (Steel Peak) --> True (Howling Fist) --> Snap (Forbidden C) --> DK --> TwS --> Demo (IR falls off) --> Bootshine/Fracture (Pot falls off) --> ....

[PB STARTER] (which I use in dummies/SSS, or when I'm close to the target)

(PB) Demo --> Snap --> Snap (B4B) --> DK (IR) --> TwS (Pot) --> ToD (Elixir Field) --> Boot (Steel Peak) --> True (Howling Fist) --> Snap (Shoulder Tackle) --> DK (Forbidden C) --> TwS --> Demo (IR falls off) --> Bootshine/Fracture (Pot falls off) --> ....

Here with the amount of skill speed the new MNK gear has, the last Demo is buffed by IR and Pot (it's pretty tight though. Sometimes the Pot clips the next GCD a bit and sometimes it doesn't, not sure why :/. It's a little weird, but the last bootshine or fracture is always buffed by the potion regardless of that). I'm a little lazy to do the math compared to the other openers but I have still been getting pretty good results with this one in general.

But like many said before, if you truly wanna maximize your opener DPS, it's up to you to customize it according to each encounter.
