Using ossom's opener.. I had more higher dps spike on it than the rest. However, our openers main goal is just getting gl3 up asap so i wouldnt worry about it too much.. In the end you just need to sustain your dps as much as possible.

I use lilyth's its roughly even with ossom's opener in potency last I check but I like the feel hers has, so I use that currently. Someone had a TK opener that potency wise was really strong for an opener because they moved a few abilities around and were able to sneak in a fracture all of this boosting up the spike to compensate for the GL3 loss, but after like 20 parses or so with it, it was still doing less than the other 2 openers. Maybe I just needed more time adjusting to it.

So we cleared A2S guys, and at ilvl 195 I was around 1520 dps by the end (thanks to not using so many rockbreakers as I was before, I'm assuming). Now that we are going to A3S, I am scouring google and these pages (104 pages is a bit much!), but have not seen an outline of monk tactice for A3S. Namely:
1) When to use mantra (saw a nin opener that said to use in the beginning https://m.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comment...savage_strats/)
2) Are there any time lapses between phases where I can TK, or is GL3 up forever?
-subquestion: if gl3 can stay up forever, will using a TK-->PB on a hand which needs to be lowered do some serious burst damage? Or no?
3) Is this a fight where I will be purifying, FC-ing, or both?

Idk I'm probably not the best monk, but I did clear a4s, so I'll give you what I do in a3s.
1. I use mantra after debuffs for the two slaps because we leave at least two people out so our whm requested it, I also use it during the gaols in the last phase.
2. I also use Tornado kick before he goes into tornado phase. TK---> PB should not be needed for the burn phase, I just save my thrid Internal and second B4B for it.
3. I only FC MCH/BRD should need to give tp at some point anyway.

1. will depend when your healers want it, but i use it before the double cleaves in hand phase, and then again during the 6 splash in last phase...

2. only 2 times you should be using TK is at hand phase > tornado phase transition and as the boss dies
3. during hand > tornado transition, you can gather 5 stacks, purification, then gather another 5 stacks for last phase, use your best judgement on what to spend those final stacks on, before then is all FC
Question: I hear that our raid utility is terrible, but I was looking at what one-ilm punch is supposed to do (take a beneficial status off of an enemy). Does this work on any endgame bosses, and if not, can it be buffed so that--I don't know--it undoes a debuff? Or would that be too OP?



It doesn't work on anything in raids really. More for PvP and the occasional Stoneskin on a FATE boss once or twice in the past.
If it did work on raid bosses, it'd have to be a mild enough bonus that it would not necessitate bringing a MNK to remove some form of buff, but also helpful enough that it's even worth repping a Twin Snakes or True Strike with a One-Ilm Punch. Something like One-Ilm Punch should only be strong if there are multiple sources of One-Ilm Punch effect on different classes, kind of like Silences where PLD, NIN, BRD, MNK, SCH, and MCH have Silences so you can actually put them into raids without hurting class balance.
So basically introduce a new move, or give us a tank that uses blunt damage?
