I actually think the requirements are to easy. I don't qualify as I only have tanks to 60 and roughly 600 trials. However, my dragoon and white mage are basically both a day of fates away, and i can get the other trials but just an afternoon of slamming poor Ifrit NM in underman.

I sould not be trusted with young minds.... If I can clear the requirement, then its to easy.

Just wait for the huge wave of people that are going mentors just for the status, and not doing anything about it. I expect either alot more rants like this till Square Enix does something about it.

I thought I was alone in this. There are exceptions out there, there are people that genuinely want to help, but those are too few.

Of course you could take the path of avoiding it so that you feel like a superior human being (while at the same time, listening to the rage of those who can't take advice.). But then you could take the path of using it and helping people who are asking for help.
In this game EVERYTHING is set to put people in connection, do you even see something said in DF ? where peopel are connected ? how many times do you have more then a hi? tell me?

This game is supposed to be a social game do you see any of it with random people? no or rarely.

what makes you think that the Mentor system will be better?

Having a 1000 comm doesnt make you a good player and even less a good mentor, having all classes at 60 doesnt make you a perfect player either it just tells that you have been reaching that end goal is all.

My concern is with Mentors that are going to expect pupils to listen to them and do what they say without having a say, with Mentors that will call stupid players for not doing it right right away, with Mentors that dont have a clues, you can only Mentor thee that you feel at ease with, not everybody can be a Mentor or know how to do, because in the end you still deal with real people.

So many things that are in a way soo wrong that makes this system in essence good, become as I said a pandora box, but let say I am seeing bad where there is only good right

    Its a matter of communication.
While i do agree with what you said, as long as new players know that a crown next to your name means youre qualified to teach them, then they may actually listen to what you're saying.
At the same time, remember that only mentors will be able to invite mentees to the special channel, just dont invite any stupid mentees and you should be fine.

I don't really like the mentor requirements, despite meeting them all, as none of them are anything except "I have grinded for a long time". Having grinded something for ages does not mean someone will be a capable mentor. Nothing is gated behind any semblance of ability.

I truly hope it works out as intended, and mentors are able to help new people improve etc, but there is also the risk of people seeing someone is a mentor, and therefore assuming they know what they're talking about... when they don't necessarily do.

I know this sounds extremely negative, it's not meant to be, just raising a concern.
Maybe clearing the new dps dummy (earth sea sky or whatever its called) should also have been a gate

Or even better, lets just tell ppl that they can become university teachers if they just survive and be nice to everyone. no advance knowledge needed.

I'd say it's more like elementary school teachers (teaching broad basics to people brand new, not specifics to people who have previous education). Though to become an elementary school teacher, all you need to do is attend University for 8 years. There is no requirement that you learn anything, complete any homework or do any tests. Just be there for a really long time - because if you are there for a long time, then you must be qualified to teach youngsters.

and then you fall on the statement someone said earlier on this topic: "Low to average skilled ppl teaching others how to achieve low to average skill levels".
