I don't think teleport kills immersion. I like that it's there, for example when I need to travel from some random hill to Idyllshire. But sometimes I do get on an airship or hire a chocobo if it is within a zone or from a city-state to a city-state. It all depends. I guess some people need more to in order to 'immerse' themselves in the game. I am immersed as soon as I log in.

The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them... To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just as long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies – all this is indispensably necessary. Even in using the word doublethink it is necessary to exercise doublethink. For by using the word one admits that one is tampering with reality; by a fresh act of doublethink one erases this knowledge; and so on indefinitely, with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth."

Your use of that word just blew my mind. #Kaboom #marryme

I'd rather have teleport than immersion.

I hate it when people name their characters "lockheart" "strife" and "yuna". It kills immersion. Therefore, ban them.

Does it still ruin your immersion if you know that the NPCs use them as well? They don't only exist for PCs to use. They're a large part of convenient travel, unless you have to transport heavy quantities of things that can't attune to the aetherytes. Or if you want to go somewhere that doesn't have an aetheryte you're attuned to. In those cases, you'd use an airship, ship, and/or caravan.

Immersion always starts in your head.

I'd go crazy without teleports, but when the world really grabs me, I take my time.
Lately, some story(?)quest sent me from Idyllshire to Nym in Outer La Noscea. I traveled the whole way on my chocobo, IN WALKING SPEED. Why? Because it's unrealistic to think a chocobo can just keep running without a break for days
If you look at chocobo caravans in cutscenes, they also just slowly trudge along. So I went on this journey on my trusty chocobo, stopped at camps to rest up, "slept" at night, switched birds halfway through because by then my chocobo would have to be exhausted, and when I finally arrived, it felt strangely rewarding

That's not roleplay. It was more of a "how long would it realistically take to make that journey..?" kind of thing x)
The answer is 3 Eorzean days, btw.
I did it because I wanted to, because it was really fun and the world felt alive by traversing it by foot/chocobo.

But when I log on and I know I have to finish x things in half an hour that I can play that day, half an Eorzean day would rather be spent with a teleport + the x things instead of slowly walking towards my destination which I will reach in a whole offline week if I can keep on playing only half an hour everyday.

    You have legs, use them.

What 'kills' immersion for me is the fact that my apparently mute character can still somehow converse by link pearl, I think it's time our characters had a voice (optional of course), even if they talk like teachers on Charlie Brown cartoons.
