I have good news for you. There's a fair chance and option to remove teleports for everyone, (not only you):

    - Convince 75% of the player base to make a forum thread and post and sign they want teleport off. 75% of all the data centers. Isn't it easy? If 3/4 of the people wants it removed, it would be removed, you just need to convince people! It's the easiest task in the earth!

(You have already a 0.01% convinced to your cause, just the 74.99% remaining!)

Immersion is a pretty common topic of discussion in fiction generally, in which the term "breaking the fourth wall" refers to the creator deliberately dispelling the audience's sense of immersion in the work. In video games specifically, in an immersive game, the audience "forgets" about the interface and method of inputs generally, allowing them to fully experience the game's world and narrative "in universe" as it were.
Ah ok, I get it now. And I can now understand how some would find fast traveling immersion breaking. But I will stay in the camp of "It's Lore supported" anyway as that's still my stance.

But at least now I can understand where others view points are coming from. As long as I understand a way of thinking I can peacfully disagree with it.

I dunno..I kind of like the teleporting as it is. Sure in FFXI times it was different...heh but I remember everyone using the OP cuz it was faster, and most choosing Bastok because it has the quickest teleports. I always auto followed someone and couldnt stand running everywhere..LOL I still do it in FFXIV or ask my BF if he would mind using the 2 person chocobos...haha.

In fact I follow people so much I get lost when I dont >.> I think more open world content would make the world feel more immersive. Maybe open world dungeons or interesting battles (NOT FATES!! lol) or stuff like we had in 1.x, where we had to kill certain mobs to pop coffers...I dunno. But please do not take away the teleports haha

Even NPCs use it. Roewna uses it too to get between her two out posts. If you noticed, there's a teleport crystal behind her in mor dona

So many people in here whining about this breaking immersion when it's in the game lore itself that they can teleport... They whine about immersion breaking, and obviously have a funemental misunderstanding of what immersion is >.....> come on people

A bunch of wealthy merchants from Ul'dah are footing the labor organizations to get the aetherytes rebuilt. The money goes to said merchants. It's explained in game somewhere, don't know offhand who says it.

I keep seeing this talk about "immersion" and "open world engagement", but forcing people to walk everywhere is not engaging, but just another walking simulator with random battles thrown in. You can't just make a huge world, make it a slog to travel through, making annoying monsters that force you to fight if you want to get anywhere, and call it a day. You have to give people a reason to WANT to engage off the beaten path. Give people a reason that makes them want to keep exploring or engage in activities that makes them forget about the daily grind.

    Fixed that for you.

I actually would find that engaging and did find it engaging in FFXI, which I played for many, many years. Please just try to understand that what one person finds fun or engaging may not be fun to you—the doesn't mean that thing is necessarily objectively not fun or engaging. As I said above, I don't expect them to remove teleportation at all—for one, it's far too late for something like that, and two, the whole game's structure is sort of facilitated around it.

But I can still wish the game would have been built with something of a different foundation (more similar to WoW's, perhaps, which doesn't have a lot of warping around).

This thread in a nutshell. It's funny because this is the argument on both sides, pro-porter vs pro-onfooter.

I don't begrudge anyone who likes the teleport network we have. I'm not even necessarily opposed to the teleporting itself, I just wish it were implemented somewhat differently. It's built into the world's lore, after all—I just think it's sort of overkill at this point and it takes me out of the game to constantly be staring at a pop up menu of teleport locations.

I'd either like fewer main teleport destinations (either, just the city-states or just one main Aetheryte per region), or the need to physically touch an Aetheryte to teleport, much like we need to with the mini-aetherytes already.

    FLYING FREAKING TORTOISE MOUNTS,
    but you know. Not complaining.
Honestly, I have to do a sort of doublethink and pretend everyone's on chocobos. I really dislike how many mounts there are already and now we're going to have a flying turtle and a flying wolf (I'm pretty sure they said they were making Fenrir a flying mount, anyway). It doesn't feel like Final Fantasy to me. x.x

I'm not saying you do, I'm just saying that you managed to word out almost exactly what everyone on both sides of this is saying and I find that humorous.

Personally, I agree with the observation that this game is one where you largely have to jump through a window to get to content (I forget if it was actually you who said this but I think you cited this). With that said, I do enjoy the convenience of it, and Heavensward is relatively light on Aetherytes in the new zones; the Hinterlands, for example, don't even have an Aetheryte.

I personally think what would be better to focus on is less the teleportation in the overworld and rather the instanced nature of the Duty Finder.
