Why are low standards for dps acceptable?

Honestly at this point I've out dps'd people as a healer and thats just sad.
I've also had dps try and heal me instead of dpsing.

You're the kind of person that berates Summoners for raising a party member to prevent a wipe when the healer is overtaxed aren't you
