Why are low standards for dps acceptable?

I just wonder did anyone of u noticed that fractal / neverreap are first lvl60 dungeons and fire4 is lvl60 skill. If that blm had pretty fresh gear I would suppose she had no practice at all yet and didnt understand how to make the best of use of enochian...

Not to single you out specifically, I've seen a lot of this in the thread:

First, the BLM skills that you unlock from 50-60 all lead up to the level 60 skill, Fire 4. It was the first job I took to 60, and frankly I was surprised that MORE jobs didn't change completely at 60. Everything you learn prior all leads to changing your rotation, specifically single target, to utilize Fire 4. Which, of course, requires Enochian.

Secondly, people seem to be forgetting about the Aetherochemical Research Facility - which is ACTUALLY the first level 60 dungeon. In fact, it's required before you're allowed to go into Fractal in the first place.

Of course learning the new rotation was a shock. It was awful and awkward and hard. When I started using it I'd drop Enochian all the time, because it was so foreign to me. But I practiced, and researched, and improved - because that's what's expected from my chosen role, which is blowing shit up.

Err... I mean DPS.

Anyway, I went a little off the rails there - my original point was, there's specifically another level 60 dungeon that had to be done before going into Fractal.

As for why lower standards for DPS are acceptable for trash content, it's because no one is relying on them to stay alive. Tanks and healers carry a bit more weight in that regard, and the only time anyone cares about DPS is on rage timers or raid bosses.

Untrue. I facepalm every time I get someone doing horribly subpar DPS in a dungeon (and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that feels this way) because it means my daily roulettes are going to take that much longer, which is that much more time away from the things I actually want to be doing. I haven't had it be so terrible to the point where it wipes the group lately because between me and the friend I usually queue with (SCH and WAR) we could basically two-man the dungeons. Having two DPS that are at least trying, even if they are in the minimum item level (gear you'd expect from a fresh 60), just makes it faster. Having two DPS that are well geared and well versed in their rotations means we're done in 15-17 minutes. Watching things utterly melt is fun.

Basically, we end up carrying bad DPS and never saying a thing (because you never know if someone's first reaction to bringing up parse numbers is going to be throwing a tantrum and sending a GM report no matter how nicely it's brought up), and bitching about our bad luck in Mumble. The saddest part is that those DPS don't even realize that they're getting outdamaged by the healer.

Furthermore, some advice from a level 60 Black mage. Enochian is great, but is limiting in scope. Due to the timer, and the rotations it's not ideal for every occasion. The tier 4 spells don't reset the Astral/Umbral timer, so it needs to be done manually, and to be honest it's only worth doing on boss fights where you're not going to be dodging a lot due to the longer cast times of these spells.

I am also level 60 BLM and...sorry but I am kinda confused what you are trying to say here...cause Enochian gives a 5% bonus to your damage for the duration...so even if you forget or can't keep enochian on after the initial timer it still buffed your DPS for that duration....pretty sure that is useful and ideal for any occasion. I don't think it is only worth it for boss fights personally...

Like personally what I do in dungeons if tank is mass pulling I will Enochian to buff my AoE rotation damage (even if I don't intend to Bliz 4 at the end, it still buffed my damage for the duration it was on). Most of the times the mobs will get blown up and move to next pull and repeat. (If mobs are dying kinda slow I might end my AoE rotation with Flare as usual then Bliz III > Bliz IV to keep Enochian on)

Even in your aoe rotation, the damage increase from Enochian alone, paired with the relatively low CD, make it worth using on trash groups, even if you don't refresh. The only time it's feasibly not worth using, is on a small pack right before a boss fight, if it won't be back up in time.

Eh thing is about vote kicking is that most times if 2 people join, of the 3 votes total they are most likely to side with each other when it comes to kicking someone. Or they may just not care a click yes without reading

I still don't understand how not using skills that are kinda mandatory for your job (enochian for BLM is pretty mandatory if you ask me) makes the game more entertaining than using your whole skillset. No one is asking people in random roulettes to use their cooldowns so they would line-up like they are used to do it in raids, but what is so hard about popping your buffs, especially when they are ready at boss?

With your logic being in non-raid instance I can just turn my wanderers minuet off, auto attack mobs and watch films on my second monitor. Hey, it will take 20 minutes longer but it will clear what I got myself into.

Yes you can turn off everything, and stay on auto-attack.

You know why? because it's Duty finder. Once you clicked there, you agree to be mixed with people different than your point of view of how a game should be played.

Worse, some will feel like bots because they don't even bother to say hi at all..

And if you think poeple don't watch animes or anything on another screen while playing..

You need to open your eyes.

So yeah, we are used to play with random people which means random as in anything can happen, don't expect too much.

Want to expect much and have it worth your 'sub' like others seems to mention as if it would mean something more? (silly lol) use Party Finder, your FC, your LS.

The rest is moot, so enjoy the game!

I honestly don't understand why people like this flag for content. If you want to watch Netflix, see your wife tackle AS4, pet the cat, or idk what else then don't do something that requires your attention. It's disrespectful to the other people in your group.
