So healers get chastised for not DPSing, but a DPS that's not using the full extent of their abilities gets a free pass. Huh.

Yup, your points are good, and I lean toward the same.
Playing a game with skills, where you don't read or try to use your skills.. is not logic lol
Just tell me how many times you've been mixed with randoms; you play your character to the maximum that you can (that's how to 'play' or to enjoy it for you) and then to discover that others don't give 2 cents.
So yeah, let's keep up being considerate, at least a few of us will be, but the total amount of players versus those on the forums o.O They won't even read this as we type lol
Some will raid while being Drunk or [something else] and still have a blast. Other in the group may find it frustrating, but what if the same players will get into DF?
Others are: sorry, lack of sleep (well you know what buddy? go to sleep! the game will be there tomorrow. my tomes! yeah right, they'll change in 3 months, so don't let it get to you too much, because if you die from lack of sleep or too many redbulls, it's GAME OVER and your tomes will stay as crap memory into this game, and hells know we need to get rid of all the limitations this game is feeling.)
So, this game is not a solo-game where you can play the way you want it, at the comfort of your home. We are mixed with others, and we have to expect the unexpected.
You can count on us to try our best, but for some, it might just not be. So be it.
When leveling other jobs that we find out won't ever be our main: we try to play it the way we find the rotations would be best, but we won't go and test dummies for sure.
Once it's capped, we move on to the next until we get back on our Main and then try to give it our all. SE made it so we can play them all to have a taste and then choose 1 or 2 main jobs because the time and tomes will make it impossible to gear all jobs to max until next patch (unless you are botting or playing 24 I presume lol)
Can't wait to meet some of you in dungeons!![]()
I got kicked recently for tanking with str accesories and dropping tank stance on bosses with a heal onry healer. He said wannabe dps tanks trigger him. I told him healers that don't dps trigger me. Shortly after that I was removed from duty.
Atleast I could laugh about it.
Another time I was healing as a scholar and dpsing during mass pulls, tank would often dip below 3k hp before I healed him. I made sure he never died while still contributing to dps, yet he took offense to being below half health allot and starting raging at me. He told me I suck because I can't keep his hp up. I tried to explain what I was doing, but got kicked before I could finish.
Tldr;
Some terrible players can't handle good play and kick the good player.
I personally don't find asking if someone is a bot offensive or rude at all, you are establishing whether its worth your time to type out assistance/tips for the person. If it was a bot, typing out how to improve is an utter waste. Whereas if its established that said bad player was a real person, perhaps they will read and improve from the critique.Mattlock, if you had only shown the *slightest* hint of diplomacy, instead of your ridiculous 'Hello, hello...is this a bot' nonsense' that entire convo would probably have turned out far different. Just reading that made me think, 'oh look another arse'. Jeez you never even used the person's name for god's sake.
Then try to get into every DF and convince them, good luck.
I choose my fights, and this one ain't one; where I'm going to lose before even trying.
2 years of gaming in DF told my boyfriend that it's pointless, people that gives a damn is less than you'll win the lottery one day.
I.. really have to explain the obvious to you? Sigh..
Your statement for a lot of us (even outside the forums) that you pay so you can expect everything given out to you with a silver spoon means nothing.
This game is optional. No one is forcing you to play. You play because you want to.
You pay to play, I pay to play. Simple right? That should end the conversation in itself.
Now let's say our way to play differs, which one is right?
You are going to show me numbers? lol
To make it clear since it seems it must be written: yeah the BLM should use Enochian. We are those who will try to use all of our skills, which is the point of leveling up: obtaining new skills.. Somes are meh, but nonetheless are part of your job that you chose to play at this moment.
What will you do if he won't/or simply wants to be an [...]? He still pays the same sub as you, so your point of paying to earn anything less than the best is moot.
Else: skip DF and find people who have the same point of view than you as how to play this game.
Hence my statement: Unless you are not paying, but getting PAYED to play it and to represent SE into championships, it's only a GAME.

There. No matter what you do, you think you are doing the right thing (and you were, except with STR acc as Tank when I'm healingI got kicked recently for tanking with str accesories and dropping tank stance on bosses with a heal onry healer. And you get kicked for whatever doesn't please the rest of them.
So, you grow tired of their [....] and simply choose to go along.
Lots will have lost their will, I hope you will continue to play the way you are.
But for them, you were the terrible player. It's a catch 22.
Recently in Stone Vigil, I noticed the BLM was just spamming Fire III over and over.
I bit my lip for a bit, but eventually decided to say something like "I really recommend using Fire III just to get your stacks of Astral Fire, then using Fire I until switching back to ice. Not trying to be rude, just trying to help."
They responded with "Okay".
I noticed them fumbling around a bit with the rotation they weren't used to for a few pulls, until it looked like they got the hang of it.
Then they said "Hey, this really does do a lot more damage. Thanks!" Which I then let them know about Firestarter they'd get in a few levels, and they were excited about it. Then the WHM asked if I had any tips for them (they seemed to be together from the DF).
Point is, sometimes you reach out a helping hand, you get bit. Sometimes they take it, and move forward in their game and enjoyment. Regardless of the amount of times I get told to STFU, I'll still put that hand out for the few that will take it. Keep extending that hand of friendship and helpfulness, and try to do what you can to get the negativity and general laziness out of the DF.
Yeah it's the same debate over and over.
wonders if Yoshi-P will take a stand somehow, someday.. when not picking the questions he wants to answer and skip the rest..
For me:
Tanks: Tank first, DPS if aggro is secured.
Healers:Heal first, then DPS when the party is secured.
DPS: Dodge first so healers don't have to cover your behind when it could have been avoided, don't get aggro (check your bar as well as healer and tanks and switch target if close to) then DPS properly (not maxed, but at least trying)
Hope they'll fix the mechanics or DPS demands. Fending accessory feels useless yet this is what drops for Tanks now.
Can't wait 3.2!![]()
