It could have a trait that cause them to consume less TP for sprint similar to how Ninjas both run faster and take less fall damage.Unless there are advantages and disadvantages to specific levels of TP though (think Arcane Mage and its combination of mana-%-based passives and Arcane (Blast) stacks), it won't be a skill ceiling so much as a different form of tedious maintenance.
Also: sprint always makes these TP-based ideas... well, interesting, if nothing else...
To be fair though... all classes have a tedious mechanic.
We call it "class identity".
Samurai Dps with a two handed katana- I'd want it to use a stance system similar to mnk, but have it flow between two stances to use various attacks.
Imagine it starts out with the sword drawn like this:

Then after attacking it goes in to a stance like this:

So it would essentially go from sword drawn -> combo -> certain combos end with the katana in the "sheathed" position -> does a finisher attack of some kind -> goes back to sword drawn stance.
Besides samurai, I'd love to see a Rdm tank using defensive spells and a rapier with no offhand weapon. It's very rare you get a nice single one handed weapon fighting style in an MMO and it's definitely something underrepresented.
Then, I'd like to see a new healer of some kind, we have an alchemist so chemist is out, Ast covers time magic so that's out, Conj/Whm and their power of nature is about as close to Geomancer we'll get, and so that left me thinking we need something different to final fantasy. Maybe a healer that uses some kind of dark magic to heal their companions, granted it's not easy to come up with "evil" sounding healing spells, but it's something I want. The idea being some sort of void magic wielder that sustains his allies for them to keep being useful to him as a story theme for the job.
Khalithar, I think your stance idea would go better in hand with a Ronin Job or something.
Samurai is usually more armored and sort of a warlord rather than a duelist.
But I suppose SE could interpret it however they want.
I like your idea, btw. I just think it could coexist with Samurai, perhaps two Jobs for the same Daikatana wielding Class?
I imagine Samurai would wear armor similar to Dragoon in terms of how heavy it is - between Ninja and Gladiator - while Ronin would wear Ninja-equivalent armor.
I would actually enjoy something like that.Id still love to see SAM come as a class that is heavily dependent on TP regeneration. Make their attacks consume vast amounts of the stuff but give them ways to regen it a CD or even from scoring criticals and the like.
Nobody has a TP management mechanic besides, "oh crap I'm out of TP, better hit invigorate/purification/bother NIN for goad." It would be cool to see a high skill ceiling DPS job that it's skill ceiling comes from something other than a timed rotation.
If you have TP-expensive combos and abilities have stronger effects/damage based on how much TP you have when you use them - it could be awesome.
You could then have some Mana-based abilities and other interesting effects - some fully controlled, some partially random (like you suggested linked to crit).
The trick would be that after using an ability, the next ability in the combo has less remaining TP, thus getting lower benefit, which would call for off-GCD ability usage and/or proc management to maximize your efficiency.

DNC, THF, and a real ranged DD. No support / non moving weirdness. Make us pay for our ammo...I don't care how I just want a real ranged DD
I feel like the most likely are going to be either Samurai, Red Mage, Blue Mage, and/or Sage/Devout (See: Krile).
Only new jobs I am really wanting to see added the future expansions are Samurai (Melee DPS), Red Mage (Melee/Caster DPS), Dancer (Melee DPS/Healer), Devout (Caster DPS), Beast master (Ranged/Pet DPS).
If they do add Beastmaster I truly hope a whip is their main weapon.
