fine in xi?
it was the reason i QUIT xi ...
I spent 13 million gil levelling up desynth in two weeks, and probably around 6 million this week gearing my weaver. I have a shopping list a mile long and 7 digits wide, it will be a very long time before I have a 'gil pool' to speak of.
If you want to make gil on Exodus, the Sky Pirate market is wide open. NQ listed at 300% profit, HQ at 1,000%, none of it selling. Buy those cheap mats, sell at a fraction of the current listing prices, and watch it sell faster than you can craft for huge profits.
Or you could make a few pieces and undercut by a trivial amount, then log in the next day to see everyone else undercut you by a trivial amount, and nobody sold anything. Repeat for weeks on end, maybe selling 1 piece in that time.
this is kind of what i was expecting when they originally spoke about adding specialists and making crafting more available for people.Make Specialists worth a damn on their own merits and Specialist recipes could actually work, though I still think the ideal implementation would have been to have continued the Craft/Control requirement on new recipes, and just given Specialists an innate boost to the stats, meaning Specialists can reach those new tiers easily. Omnicrafting would then still be a possibility, Specialists would then just a bonus, rather than requirement.
sadly, all we get is requirements on top of the retarded material requirements for crafting some of the new stuff and the necessity to still have every class leveled. it definitely seems worst now than in 2.x
all they need to do is re-add the timers from 1.x and we may be able to have a crafting system almost as bad, if not worst, than many other games
And this is exactly what's wrong with the new system.
What part of what you quoted has anything to do with the 3.1 system vs the 2.x system?
Reaching the top tier of crafting is costly in some combination of gil and effort, no change there.
You can find something to spend gil on as fast as you can make it, nothing new there.
People who spend gil as fast as they make it aren't sitting on mounds of gil, nothing new there.
The problem with the new system is that the specialist skills are junk.
The amount of work/gil with no prospect of an actual reward for it.What part of what you quoted has anything to do with the 3.1 system vs the 2.x system?

What reward was there ever in crafting, or the game in general? If reaching the top of a craft isn't a reward for you, then maybe crafting isn't your thing.
If you need to make loads of gil for all your effort, you're going to have to put in a decent amount of extra effort. Those multi-million gil profit synths only stay that way for a few days, then stuff gets old and other people can make it.
Gil, for one thing? Supplying your raid? Gearing your alts? Honestly that sentence just screams of trolling, I am not sure if you were serious in asking it.
Some of those rewards don't really exist in HW at the moment, because they've decided crafted gear needs to be a lot weaker in order to make it easier to balance their raids.
Having started with a lot of gil from ARR, making more gil from 60s without specialists or 2-stars is pretty simple. There's no carrot for reaching the absolute top atm, which is what I was arguing. If you need to make loads of gil for all your effort, you're going to have to put in a decent amount of extra effort. Those multi-million gil profit synths only stay that way for a few days, then stuff gets old and other people can make it.
It was exactly the same way in 2.x; the first few to hit the new top tier can make the big gil per synth, anyone after that has to settle for a mere 5-6 figure profit per synth.
I've made several pieces of Sky Pirate gear for myself and FC members, there is demand for the gear. The problem on my server is the people look at the MB and see ingredients cost 120k, NQ gear listed for 1M, HQ for 2M.
Yes, right now specialist brings nothing to the table except recipes and a pretty color for the class in your character profile.
But that has nothing to do with what you described as what's exactly wrong with the new system, ie crafters spending a lot of gil. Crafters having a lot of things they can spend their gil on is a good thing.
