Not everything about an MMO needs to revolve around other players. That was the initial appeal of crafting and gathering for a lot of people, something you and a lot of the "OMG SOCIALIZE" people fail to realize.

The fact is doubly lost on you because one of the unique features of this game is that you could literally level everything to max if you wanted. That's no longer the case.

Not everyone has access to this. Only two members of my FC craft at all. No one else enjoys it.

Same boat with a leak. The other crafter in my FC frequently takes extended breaks to play other games.

Except why should we have to spend all our hard earned gil on jacked up prices just because only a handful of people chose to specialize in that class? Not everyone who is an omnicrafter or wants to be an omnicrafter shits gil. I wish I did, but I don't. I already spend ridiculous amounts on mats that I can't get for myself. Plus, the server economies are often VASTLY different, so what's affordable on your server won't always be affordable on any other server. What's cheap on Exodus won't necessarily be what's cheap on Siren. We can't predict what will make the most gil or what we'll be needing the most of in the future, and we can't plan for stuff we can't predict. I'm the only person in my FC that has even a single specialist. So it's great that /your/ personal experience allows you to ask for help or that /your/ server economy is cheap enough for you to buy the mats you need, but /your/ experience is not universal.

No, every server economy is going to be roughly the same for this. Sphalerite and cloud cotton are worthless trash that you only gather because it's in the way of your steel spoils. It's at 1g per on every server. Right now there are very few bsm specs on exodus, so titanium-alloy ingots are hovering around 50k. it won't be long before they go down to 10k. Likewise it won't be long before sky pirate gear is 100k a piece or less, the only thing missing is the hard mode pterodactyl fishing spot. Pterodactyls are the only thing keeping any of this crap expensive.

No, every server economy won't be roughly the same. I can play on my main on Siren and expect to spend at least 100k each on specialist mats, while on Coeurl, the last time I checked, they were much cheaper. An armoire on siren costs 300k-1m at any given time, while on Balmung the prices for those have dropped heavily. I can make 250k by selling 30 hardsilver ingots, while on coeurl I wouldn't even get half that, and that's not even a specialist item. So no, you're wrong, please don't try and use your server economy as the basis for ALL server economies. Population versus number of crafters(specialists, specifically) play heavily into the way things are priced. You know, supply vs demand?

It's useless gating around a pretty-much-dead part of the game at this point. They wanted to kill crafting for progression in HW, so they pretty much took crafting down with it.

The supply is going to greatly outstrip demand on ALL SERVERS because any gatherer in diadem is going to be up to their ears in this shit while trying to get steel spoils in the hopes they can get something people actually want. If the refined mats are expensive it's because you got some kind of crafter mafia price fixing shit.

The only way this isn't going to happen is if every gatherer suddenly decides it isn't fucking worth it to even go in there. Which I will admit is entirely possible.

I haven't had more than 100k for more than 10 minutes in the last two weeks. Find out what people buy, make it, and sell it. It ain't hard.

So I'm just going to conclude that you benefit from this system and that's why you're so vehemently against those of us who do not like this system. Specialization in its current form is useless; it's gating a portion of the game that doesn't need to be gated by socialization. The point is that MANY of the current players are set in their groups. They are comfortable in their groups. Outsiders will be charged an arm and a leg to gain access to what they have. Not everyone has a metric ass ton of crafters in their FC, and even if they do, people do take breaks from the game and this system thus leaves us at the mercy of the whims of others. Omnicrafting allowed us to get our shit together on our own, without the need to beg someone else to help you out. And it's great that you have access to people who are cool with helping you just to help or that you have the gil to pay the exorbitant prices that DO exist(whether they exist on your server or not isn't my concern), but, again, your experience is not universal. So it's cool that you don't care about people outside of yourself or the experience of others when they tell you that this is bad for them, but really your behavior is trite and puerile. "Well /I'm/ fine, so you guys are just whining about nothing" is all you're saying over and over with different phrasing. So really, if you don't care and this system benefits you so much, how about you don't sit in this thread being combative because heaven forfend anyone have any experience outside of yours.

No offense but if you're not carrying more than 100k these days then you're not really an expert to speak about the best way to handle gil as a crafter.
