Not at all. You can grab enough gear of lower ilvl to get into any content on an alt job, and once you've farmed up for one you can switch to another.. And still use both. The specialist system means once you switch, you are no longer able to craft on your previous one. There's already a similar gear gate on crafters with the red script gear.
