Dude... as i said... i am a 2 year costumer... if i want to take a break i should not be punish to make new players happy.....
If u want a house so bad, and fast, u could move/create ur char in a server who still have free plots, like Goblin for example... but noone can force u to do it cuz u... as client, can decide when and where you want to play.... if i want to take a break for 50 days thats my desition and i should not be punish for that (even more if i am still paying suscription but not logging).
I am just saying than 45 days off is not, from my experience, a player who actually left the game necesarily, and those are the ones who are provoking the lack of plots on many servers (ppl who havent log/pay suscription for several months)
BTW almost ALL MMO are promoting/offering stuff to players to return, refunding only 80% of the gil and making ppl lose the expensive items is not a good welcome for returning players... just saying
PD: sorry for my broken english

Why do other people have to move a server because you and others like you can't be bothered to be in game? Paying or not, and I get and understand your point but, if you pay, you should be playing. AND if you are unable to actually play, it takes 2 mins at most to log in at your house and reset the timer. Is that too much work to do for you? To understand some people who play didn't have the gil to purchase at the ridiculous prices that housing started at? A lot of us. myself included were told personal housing was not going to be anywhere NEAR the cost of FC housing and that was a lie. I could have bought a medium FC plot a few weeks prior to the sale of personal housing for 2 mil. But I didn't because I was in an FC already and I was told not to worry. BAM! Release and that same plot was now 20 mil!
And this isn't true. A lot of players have what they have in housing just like the do in gear as a "status" or "Epeen" need. They may have great gear built are carried through the content and suck at their jobs. They have a crap ton of gil for whatever reason, legit or not and they bought a mansion day one and don't use it. it has 3 pieces of furniture that their retainers brought and they can't sell.
Just quit your complaining and freaking log in. if not, sell your house and move on. Then you don't have to worry about it. FFS.
This will help small population servers, and perhaps some medium sized ones too.
Large population servers like Hyperion will open up maybe a couple hundred plots if we are generous with the numbers. There will be a chocobo foot race to the nearest housing ward, and all the opened plots will be bought up within the hour of release.
... leaving us back to square one, that even a recollection system could never relinquish enough housing for such a large population that the game currently has. With server populations reaching in the 30Ks, a 1400 house-system could never possibly accommodate everyone reasonably (it could technically happen, but would result in mass exodus of current free companies for ones with houses. So no, not reasonably)
Square Enix probably had the best chance over the last few weeks to try to bring in better server architecture with the Chaos Data Center transfer. Since their response is usually "server strain" for any and all housing problems, this would have been the best chance to experiment to see if upgrading the servers in terms of more housing wards would pay off in the long run.
Or have one dedicated server contain the housing wards for everyone. Latency issues wouldnt matter at all since there is no pressing content within a housing ward anyways.
Hopefully this reclamation system is just one step to ultimately fixing the problem. But chances are, we won't be seeing another big fix like this until next october or longer.
This ^^^^ SOOO Much this.
If you're not there, why should someone else who is, not have the property and USE it? And I've been a customer since OB of 1.0, played through ALL the craziness, paid when people lost their minds, flamed SE for paying for a broken game etc. Soooo ... your point is? O.o For right now, this is a temporary but NEEDED solution. As Sinister said, if you can't log in for 2 seconds and bail for the next 30 days or so, then you don't need that house or property. I play and others play daily or close to it. We aren't bandwagon players who roll through new content and then sit on our hands crying on the forums about lack of content and rinse repeat. We pay and we play.
Not only new, I have been playing for 2 years, I had enough gil for a house for atleast a year, I have been scouting for a house for atleast a year.
If you will decide to take a break for 2 months, you will unfortunately have to turn subscription off only for 1 and visit your house for a sec. This is not the best solution, it is not even absolute solution as many people will be without houses, but even as a member of FC with a house I am tired of walking Goblet full of abandoned houses.
This idea has been already turned down once because of people who wanted to take break every 2 months, sorry, but I don't see it happening again and this time I support SE.
