Then don't DPS.... Its your account and if you stick with the game then play as you like.... Don't feel you have to do anything you don't want to do. This is a GAME not a job... If your a healer and the tank tells you to dps then switch to dps mode and don't heal him...

Were numbers invented or discovered? How many Moogles does it take to make Kuponut rum? Answer: zero... They will give you a quest to make it.

Please op, ignore this person's awful advice, all it will do is cause more problems.

Anyways yeah, as long as you keep everyone alive nobody should really complain, but you'll find in many dungeons throughout this game that they do not require intensive healing at all. Especially as a sch, the fairy does much of the healing for you. So oftentimes you will have long periods where there is nothing really to heal and any heals you put out would be overhealing and a waste, so in those cases you could take a few seconds to throw out some dots and bane. Certainly more fun than standing around doing nothing, it keeps you busy and speeds up the run. I personally would not see any sense in literally ignoring half the skills my class can use. A healer contributing dps is still actually contributing to healing, as the faster stuff dies, the less damage people take. Proactive mitigation over the long term.

So is harassing players that have a different play style then someone else. You call grief over a healer allowing a tank to die bc the tank was crying over the healer not dpsing... Maybe players are tired of being told how to play. If someone is complaining bc the mobs or boss isn't dieing fast enough then you need to look at the dps not the healer. And if someone is trying to force a healer to dps then dies bc the healer listen and started dpsing well who is to blame?

You can go ahead and call the GM and cry about it I really don't care because I am tired of players telling other players how to play their job. In reality life is a 2 sided coin with the same bs on both sides. And if some how the coin lands on the side who wins? In the long run it doesn't matter...

I've never seen an MMO where healers weren't expected to use the abilities that are given to them. Not sure what game you came from, but healers DPSing isn't a new thing, and you're never going to excel at your class unless you can get the hang of it.

Of course, as stated, it is fine to take things slow and learn things one step at a time. But healers, ESPECIALLY scholar, are capable of doing a lot of damage to help their group. Not taking advantage of it (once you are comfortable doing so) is just outright silly.

    You're being lazy.

It will annoy me. It's the same as if the tank spams overpower until he has threat and then just goes AFK for half the pull. Or the summoner spreads dots and then just idles, because it's 'a dot job'. Or if you're playing an archer rather than a bard because 'it's my character concept'. Dungeons are easy enough that everyone can do this, but it's terribly dysfunctional.

Now, it's your game and your sub and your money. That it annoys me doesn't give me the right to do anything about it to you. But maybe playing a team-based game while not putting in a team effort is the wrong mentality to bring into things.
    A very good post here.

Actuslly, healers discouraged from dps'ing has been very much a case in games where healers damage spells are not very efficient comparing to the mana cost they have due stat distribution, while mana and regeneration of it is a thing. Healers simply had to spare any drop of that blue juice to heal efficiently, and they could still mess it up. Hear this is different nowadays, in wow at least, they dumbed it down enough that one simply can't run OOM. This game has cleric stance which gives the healer damage spells the same usability as most caster classes so benefits are reasonable compared to the cost.

Oh, for the OP about the OOM. On scholar, Aetherflow is a delicious thing. And that gives you stacks which allows you to cast a manadrain to whatever mob is around for even more juice. They say SCH is mana dynamo ^^

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.

I love this. I'm so stealing that macro, just for the occasional bell end.
