I think what OP is saying is it's harder to get people excited about these raids than the previous ones. I don't really think the loot side of it is important at all, except for one thing: It's a motivator to do the content.

It's like doing gathering in this game. Would you really go around and mine all those nodes if you didn't get any ore? Some people even tell me they find gathering fun and relaxing but they'd never do it if there was no reward.

It's a normal misconception that everyone only raids for the loot because surely some only raid for that reason.

Alexander's Story isn't connected to the main lore and story like Coil was. Coil was connected to what happend after the calamity so players were learning about what happend to Bahamut 5 years ago. Bahamut also is the most popular summon in Final Fantasy and Alexander doesn't hold a candle to him.

Eh, in everything but FFXIV, Alexander > Bahamut imho, especially FF9. They really butchered Alexander with FFXIV.

I want to address one thing tho....Some people with reason around here have made some points....COIL was directly attached to the main story of 1.x and even mentioned on the main story of 2.x but ALEXANDER has no ties to the main story, hence making it a secondary story that not everyone needs to see it in other to get what will happen or happened in the main event of the game, so not 100% need to see it... NOW some smart people will come here and say million trash, then let's talk about all the stories behind every Class/Job. why do I need to lvl up to 60 every single class job to see the stories behind them? but I don't see anyone complaining about it... simply because it's not tied to the main story IS NOT RELEVANT is just there as a bonus for the leveling process.... Alexander is just the same

The drg questline actually changes the dialogue in the MSQ.(though minimal)

Such as if you had a drg level 50, estienin would reference you and make small quips about you being a dragoon.
