I liked having a story mode.
I liked having a story mode.
Especially considering their methods didn't work.A long time ago in a game known as WoW a dev explained why they spend so much resources on raid content, content they acknowledged very few people who played actively participate in. In short is was to inspire people who didn't raid to want to raid. It was also there reason for very visually distinct raid armor.
They wanted the small %of players who progressively raided motivate those who didn't have the time or skill. They spoke of how in town a raider would have this armor and people walking by would stop and go oh wow that guy is a raider his armor is sop cool I want to raid.
But with time they decided that catering to 5%of the player base wasnt fair and created raid content for every one with different color pallets on the armor vs difficulty.
Those that didn't raid still didn't want to raid. "Oh, you have to raid SSC for this." "oh. nm then"
The dyeable gear was exactly what people were crying for with Dreadwyrm.
They wanted dyeable versions.
Well, with Alexander Savage you get... dyeable versions of the exact same armor you get in the zone. Just like they were crying they wanted out of Savage Coil.
Seriously?
Except they could have made Alex Normal gear dye-able upfront and then created a new set for Savage that was also dye-able.The dyeable gear was exactly what people were crying for with Dreadwyrm.

So they would design a unique set for the hardcore raiders that just want to stroke the e-peen or sell runs to players with too much gil...
Yes, welcome to MMOs. You raid, you get gear. You sit around in your FC house all day and only do DREX, you don't. Life's tough, hang in there.
Savage is challenging and not on Duty Finder. So that's not what you are asking.I think having 1 piece of content that's challenging and not on duty finder wasn't the end of the world. I get it you pay 12 dollars, but that doesn't really mean you have the right to ruin the experience for others. Or that the devs have to tailor the game specifically to you. Alexander is a direct reflection of the attitude of these forums, and it sucks!

Way to miss the point.
Dev resources are better used designing gear that a majority of the player base is able to obtain rather than gear that only a small portion of the player base can get.
Are you being deliberately obtuse? Current raiding gear becomes easily obtainable every cycle patch, it doesnt mysteriously disappear from the servers. This season's hardcore raid is next season's midcore glamour hunt. It is a far better investment of resources than any of the other casual themepark garbage that quickly become wastelands, like Gold Saucer.
Heaven forbid casuals wont have all the shinies at the exact same time as people who raid. Oh my stars and garters, what is the world coming to when one is rewarded for accomplishing something in a game! I hate crafting, I should be able to get red scrips sent to me in the mail every week, because I mean it would be so unfair to have content that only so few people can do. It's totes discrimination. I have a job. I can't craft. My fingers hurt when I craft. Crafting is against my personal beliefs. Where are my red scrips pls.
