They do this in real life too, it's called 'business'.
It is the reason why you don't have to work all week to afford a loaf of bread, or work all year to afford this game. When you walked into the game store and took the game case to the counter to purchase it, did you have to take a guess on how money you had to give the cashier in order to make a surccessfull purchase?
Over time the market simmers down and a mutually agreed price is reached between sellers.
Sometimes new people will pop up and attempt to sell their items at a lower price, to counter that the other sellers buy these items at the lower price then sell them at the standard price, this is called 'buying out'.
Then when those items sell a small amount of profit is earned without the seller having to have used any time or effort gathering materials, using shards and creating the items.
This is called 'good business sense'.
