walking to town for the 1 millionth time is not exploring.Jynx, who i often do not agree with, makes some really good points. Instant access to a town will only re-enforce the One Town problem we already have in this game. Every time Steps are taken to get people out of Ul Dah, such as Marks being town specific, they go and do something like this. Now no one ever has to take there retainer out of Ul Dah because its literally a cutscene away.
They are making this game so unbearably simple, i'll use simple so people stop yelling at me for equating difficulty with time sinks, that I can't even do a run of ToTo Rak without someone deciding "Nah forget SP i'm just gonna switch to my main and burn this thing down."
MMO's NEED time sinks
Instances NEED level caps
Markets NEED Gil Sinks
This MMO will never get anywhere if they continue to make it so Simple that Every piece of content is done and over within a week of release and any player can get any where to do anything in less than a minute.
This game is supposed to be a World that we explore NOT a place to teleport around one shotting things with unlimited resources at our disposal.

First of all, yes it is. Whenever you walk through an MMO there is a chance you will come across something you didnt know about before. That is exploring.
Secondly, by removing the drive of players to ride between towns you derail your ability to create immersive content. Especially when you consider the amount of events that can happen between towns. Adding instant travel encourages players to avoid the vast majority of the game's areas unless they are specifically going to to do a preplanned event. Players will not venture off the beaten path if they can simply instant travel from one place to the next. Once again, that is why Anima porting has a limit.
Finally, by releasing instant porting first you greatly diminish any advantages that a person might have gained through taking the full length travel. You can't rely on discount prices for non-instant travel because people will have adapted to the current rates. You can't rely on content because it will be ignored in favor of speedy travel or will require rewards so good that people begin to ignore the rest of the game.
The simple fact is, by making instant travel between cities you are effectively detracting from the rest of the games. The markets suffer, population density suffer, areas become desolate, and future content become greatly limited.
Unless you want the airship to travel on land and let you jump off when you see something interesting you're argument in this thread is not valid.First of all, yes it is. i been walking for 1 year to each of the 3 cities and i have never saw anything new outside of an update. exploring means to look for something you have not seen or been to before. Not walk the same path 14 times a day. this is one of the stupidest debates i have ever seen. Thats like saying im exploring on my way to work, or school, or im exploring when i go home after work.... thats silly. Theres a chance i can see things i never saw before going to work but after 5 years coming here and going the same route its still exporing to you? thats crazy.First of all, yes it is.
