LMAO I gota say the fact this is still going on.

People are undeniably stupid The Alagans aren't some special race with amazing super powers they were an empire that means a vast collection of other people who they assimilated into their rule either with negotiations or war. This collection of people are called Alagans because again its a whole nation.

I am thinking people read the thread's title, and reply. Rather then reading the thread.

The race I had in mind, may have a human-shape, but would not look human at all. With pretty much hard-plastic looking skin, and robotic eyes, with trails running down their bodies and options for metallic limbs or metallic accessories... No. They may imitate humans but they are far from them.

Cute girls sell and it lets them avoid a lot of clipping/mesh stretching issues. As much as I'd like a more monstrous race, I don't expect it. Give me something like a dragonborn from D&D or a charr from Guild Wars and I'd race change in an instant.

And so far a good answer hasn't been made (one that doesn't tread all over lore and story). Why are they in the three starting cities? How do they have the Echo? Why do they have free will (if they were servants, then the technicians would have made sure to remove their free will and emotions permanently)?

It could even have been a voluntary process, undergone to allow them to resist tempering while attempting to deal with the primals. The devices to accomplish this would
likely still exist, somewhere amongst the secrets of Azys Lla or another of the Allagan's research facilities still undiscovered.
I should think having your soul trapped in a crystal sphere might even allow Hydaelyn to speak with you quite easilly.
Cid and the Gang can make a virus that overwrites it? There are literally infinite possibilities why. They could even have a way to hide themselves and masquerade as people. Some could of even escaped in the world earlier. Your character is pretty .. unique in his aspect to help anyone. He does not seem like a regular person.

And Cid doesn't become available until level 40ish. It's also ancient Allagan tech from 5000ish years ago, so he would take weeks-years trying to figure out how to make you human again (and that's making things unbalanced for the races. Why does this one race get special treatment, while the others are all treated exactly the same?). There's still the question on why they're showing up in the three starting cities (again, technicians would make sure to remove all free will and emotions from them -think Cybermen from Doctor Who. It also wouldn't make sense for hundreds of them to suddenly appear. This is pretty much crossing into the "why Padjal can never be a thing," as it wouldn't make sense).

If they woke up in the Binding Coils, then they would go back to doing their predetermined task of torturing the dragons so they would keep summoning Bahamut (or be destroyed by the experiments. Being level 1 and all that). If Azyz Lla, then back to research, keeping the place "clean" or get destroyed by the escaped experiments... and they wouldn't be able to leave because of that shield (taking malfunctions into consideration).

An idea is great and all, but you need to think about how to make it work without making it the special snowflake race that gets exclusive MSQ treatment. Also think about it, would it really make sense for (unrealistic example, but I'm going for it) thousands of Allag robots to just show up out of nowhere in the starting cities? Honestly, a playable Beastman race would make more sense at this point.

They're Allagans. They don't get tempered. They use primals for their own purposes. Just look at Bahamut Prime.

You underestimate how over complicated the Allagans are. You don't even meet Cid until half way into the MSQ, let alone at the beginning of the game. The feasibility of him coming up wit ha virus to override na Allagan Creation is slim to none given the advancement of Allagan technology being leagues above the Garleans (whom are already pretty damn advanced relative to what we normally see). You're literally grasping at straws at this point and coming up with plot holes to justify it as a playable race :l.

So... You mean the dragons should hate all hyurs because of what the Allagans did, since you're comparing what the Ishgardians did to all elezen? O.o

There's a huge difference between playing an elezen and playing an allagan construct.

Ishgard-elezen relation is pretty much "Ishgardians, who are a small portion of elezen, did/do bad things." So just because you blame the Ishgardians for something bad, that doesn't mean you should blame all the other elezens for it since they had nothing to do with it. Unless lore states that all elezen currently living in Gridania and elsewhere originally came from Ishgard.

Allagan-allaganconstruct relation is pretty much "Allagan constructs are a small portion of the Allagan empire, and the Allagan empire did bad things." So if you blame the Allagans for something bad, and the Allagans also made these constructs, chances are a lot higher that the constructs would be tainted by the bad things the Allagans did.

So to claim that "it'd work out just fine, since Middy doesn't hate elezens for what the Ishgardians did" is a fair argument for why it would work with allagan constructs is.... illogical.
