Maybe Hydaelyn could have done it, with the whole "hear feel think" thing?
As for staying active; well, we know that Allagan stuff tends to be...built to last.

That doesn't make sense, though. New players, this including new races, all start at the very beginning of ARR, which is before Binding Coil or anything Allagan related. It doesn't make sense for us to wake something up that then goes back in time to five years after the Calamity.

This thread is absolutely terrible. Gas it.

I don't think that Allagans were a own race. I think they were just people of the Allag empire, in different races (like the current Eorzeans).
Do the sidequests in Azys Lla. Missfunctions everywhere, because last maintenance was 5000 years ago.

Yet other similarly old constructs like Dalamud and Syrcus Tower have/had no such problems. Whatever tubes Doga and Unei came out of had no problems either.
Azys Lla's malfunctioning systems could very well be due to factors other than the stuff being too old.
If you can recall, a lot of systems were found deactivated when the WoL's crew arrived at Helix. It's not implausible that, among those deactivated, were probably some crucial maintenance functions.
We're all forgetting one crucial evidence. Can synthetic beings even be a chosen of Hydaelyn?
...Can Hydaelyn even understand the workings of Allagan creations? They are, of course, far beyond human reckoning. (and on a serious note, that's just the tip of the iceberg from the lore perspective of having allagan creations being playable, moreso than Au'ra)

A cyborg race.. Intriguing.

It's the Allagan Empire not the Allagan race.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a mech/android/cyborg race. I would switch to it SO FAST
