[Idea] Race: Allagan

I think a cool idea for a new race for FFXIV, based on the main storyline quest would be the Allagan's themselves.

Why do I think this interesting? As you can see from the picture it is obviously some kind of ship or UFO that has been floating for quite some time. What if it was a way for the last Allagan's to escape? The ship itself can be an instance and you travel to it, inside you find beings created by Allagans.

Also, they can be beings created from Allagan's that act as workers and handmaidens and proxies to speak with people.

The instance boss fights could be based off AI, and the race itself could be unlocked per server via a very tough 8-24 man raiding zone.

"A pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?"

Once it is unlocked, it is unlocked per server and you must make parties to do the zone. It could even be an "open" party zone rather then a closed instanced one that you must fly to per zone.


You give them free will, when they were slaves before and they help you defeat the bosses of the zones! Thus they become a playable race!

Just for fun, let's say the Allagans ran into the problem of their people being "tempered" by the primals, but figured out a way to deal with it. Unfortunately, this involved sucking the victim's soul out of the body and "filtering" it through unaspected crystals, before storing it in a "core" that could be inserted into an artificial body. It could even have been a voluntary process, undergone to allow them to resist tempering while attempting to deal with the primals. The devices to accomplish this would
likely still exist, somewhere amongst the secrets of Azys Lla or another of the Allagan's research facilities still undiscovered.
I should think having your soul trapped in a crystal sphere might even allow Hydaelyn to speak with you quite easilly.

Best idea for this ever. =D Makes a lot of sense.

Not really though, they have to look more doll-like, and their skin and such and accessories can be much more interesting. They could even have machine parts, cybernetics ect ect.

It's not like the existing races have all that much variety...

Lallafel: Hyur child.
Roe: Hyur that played football in college.
Elf: Hyur on basketball team.
Cat: Hyur with cuter animations and strap on cosplay ears.
Au: Hyur with tattoo fetish.

Much as I want something more different, and I once read that even Yoshi wanted the next race to be more different (when he rejected bunnygirls right after launch)... the expac seems to show they're now fine with all races basically being 'Star Trek Aliens'...

Cute girls sell and it lets them avoid a lot of clipping/mesh stretching issues. As much as I'd like a more monstrous race, I don't expect it. Give me something like a dragonborn from D&D or a charr from Guild Wars and I'd race change in an instant.

People are undeniably stupid The Alagans aren't some special race with amazing super powers they were an empire that means a vast collection of other people who they assimilated into their rule either with negotiations or war. This collection of people are called Alagans because again its a whole nation.

Xande and company were they way they were because of imperfect cloning technology. The original Xande was probably just a hyur with red eyes.
