Look at it this way. If everyone gave up in the face of overwhelming odds, we wouldn't have had many changes in the world that we needed.
Sometimes people need to stand up for things even when winning isn't guaranteed or even likely, and that's the truth :P
What if they add a flying shopping cart mount? Oh oh or a magic carpet style flying credit card. I would so buy the shopping cart one!
Well that's all the more reason to speak against it isn't it? Or at least to find a compromise between that could strengthen both the consumer and seller instead of stubbornly pursuing the most blatantly rapacious route which could have long term detrimental effects?
All or nothing isn't a very feasible expectation.Quite frankly I prefer being called a pessimist, but whatever.
What a nice dream though, it's worked so well for everyone against the CS, lol. I think I'll stick with reality until then.
When the cash shop, along with mounts being gated to RAF, are completely removed, I'll believe it.
That's why I think alternative methods is a fair compromise.
I think that I've already lost if I don't at least stand up.That just raises my question, again. If we speak out against it, will our voice matter? Do you really think Yoshi-P is in charge of these decisions? If he isn't, which he's not, in terms of what SE does financially, then why should or would those in charge care? If every 2nd or 3rd person to your 1 would be in favor of spending that money, what reason do any of them have to care what you think?
Besides, it's not like we've never swayed their decisions before.
Originally, dyes where going to have stat effects. The community put a stop to that real quick.
Dyes have also removed 'realistic' the dulling effect they have on old 2.0 gear, so modern metallic armors don't lose their sheen when dyed.
Hell, they even fixed a graphical issue with my hairstlyle even though I'm one of the few people to even use it.
They do listen. They may not always compromise or follow through, but we don't know if we don't at least try.
As for the rational approaches:
- Constantly charging for high grade mounts with no alternative leads to uninvoled players. Those who look to reward based games would be encouraged to move on to cheaper MMO's as they have less reason to play here.
- Giving players the opportunity to achieve a mount by other means encourages them to pursue it. The more they go after it, the more likely they are to break down and just buy it. The pursuit reinforces the want. The stronger the want, the more likely they'll spend the extra money.
- In game goals enrich the wold and is strictly more content, which is far more effective in keeping subscriptions up more than weekly currency limits and cash shops.

Tell that to the people who stood up against slavery, or to the people who fought to stop the Holocaust when it looked like the war was lost. Things worked out for them and wouldn't have if they had your attitude!Quite frankly I prefer being called a pessimist, but whatever.

If you admit defeat, defeat is what you'll get. Not victory, not even compromise. Defeat. Opposition to the cash shop is probably the only reason it hasn't exploded into more than it is right now. But you do you!
Let's come back to reality here. This is a game. This isn't a gulag, this isn't a concentration camp, so leave it out.Tell that to the people who stood up against slavery, or to the people who fought to stop the Holocaust when it looked like the war was lost. So, my point doesn't stand?
Doesn't get more "reality" than using real world examples.
I can also use plenty of video game examples if you like.
Fans getting Bioware to make a better ending for ME3 wasn't likely, yet they managed it.
Raw fan enthusiasm for the FF universe getting SE to take the risk of remaking a failed game (1.0-ARR) rather than cutting their losses wasn't likely, but they managed to get SE to do it.

It would be better if it were more consistent. I'm mostly talking about how some of the scion minions being available through cash shop while others are awarded in game.
It made sense to a lot of people that Odin's Mount might have been a drop for the Trial since Odin = Primal.
If they're going to add another mount in the cash shop then I hope it wont be a Ravana/Bismark mount.
No, I just don't care. Either leave your soapbox at the door, with all the history quips, and stay on point, or go away. This is a game. It isn't Nazi Germany. My entire point here is that you people have this crazy idea that those that developed the game have some final say, and they don't.
You're the one getting off point here :3, attempting to draw attention away from the issue of debate. My point addresses why defeatism isn't a good state of mind to take on.No, I just don't care. Read my edit though, I'll satisfy your semantic issues.
