Honestly I dislike the weekly caps on everything.
Like, argh.... I clear Alex once a week and then what?
What am I to do?

while the way you and others play is fine. its just ff14 is more than just raids and having end game raids. Having end game raiding is one of many things ff14 offers. its just like you and many others - its the only thing you find the most fun/rewarding so to keep the population stable and keep guys like you subbed up..lockouts of some kind are needed.
to OP- of course ur bored- the king of end game raiding in ff14 is not even released yet- so that explains it.
I don't know know of any mmo that only has end game raiding- maybe - Wow- perhaps thats more your type of game
Guild Wars I was the second best MMO behind WoW at its peak. I played Guild Wars II for 15 minutes and never logged in again. Obviously the development team made a huge blunder there because they should have made GWII similar to GWI. GWI featured a horizontal gear progression so you'd never have to chase ilvl and get bored after getting your gears. FFXIV needs to change it up. Make the boss mechanics random so that when I come back to the fight, I don't have to follow abc and repeat the exact same thing every time. It's ridiculous they still would not change that. New contents make old contents obsolete. Everyone is doing the new primals and no one does the old primals anymore. Give titles to the number of primals defeated. Make titles give something meaningful like a buff to a skill. I guarantee everyone will be out doing old contents farming titles to buff their skills.
Nothing.
inb4: YOU RUSHED TO 60.
Yea the rest of us who has been 50 for years, and even casually got to 60 has nothing to do.
2 dungeons spam to do Alex and be bored. Feels like the start of 2.0 again. It'll get better as time goes on.
you may want a fake choice but i sure don't. skill trees are nice fluff to look at like hey look i could use these worthless skills but naaah.
more raids = longer between patches and i personally like how things are.
completion times for people? sure no harm there.
we already have these non raid open world things they are hunts/maps we have both versions (limited/not limited)
replaying story would be nice just no exp (as it goes against what the devs want)
the reason why the end game raids are short is because time restrictions SE wants to keep them in a certain time frame so making a long raid lowers the already low raid pool.
(not invalidating your opinions just throwing my thoughts into it)
OOPS! i forgot one part (random ai) with bosses having a more reactionary mechanics (where what they do next isn't set) their damage goes down, you would only be trading set hard set mechanics for easy weak mechanics. (mountain buster now does 50% less damage because he can use it multiple times heck it would prolly do less)

I think you are missing the point of endgame.
Raids and stuff? thats blurgh
Cute pink skirts, thats the real end game!

1. Fake choice, doesn't have to be that way. I am sorry you feel that way. If it was that way, then there would be one clear choice between SCH and SMN, there would be one clear choice between STR and VIT on tanks. There isn't.
2. I like the content patches scheudle, but I'd rather have a variety of stuff than everything in one area. Like coil, we had 13 turns of coil. I would have preferred much less turns and then other raids with different themes elsewhere. Same development time, but variation.
3. -
4. The current hunt system is a zerg fest, I specifically said this would be limited to your party via spawning
5. Agreed, though having exp on your alternate jobs would help make leveling secondaries more interesting. Grinding fates/dungeons is pretty lame.
6. I am not saying remove short end-game raids, I am saying add in stuff that includes a journey with it (or at least some sense of adventure). However, I agree that the reasoning behind the short end game raids makes sense.

1 not sure if you are referring the jobs as skill trees or not. so not 100% how to reply there is no choice between sch/smn because you can have both, with skill tree we would get say 100 points and put them into either tree.
tanks have a pretty clear choice, have enough hp? yes? get str. no? get hp. most content is easy enough that it doesn't matter, but get into raids and people start caring what stats you have.
2 so like the first 4 turns is coil the next four is alex then the last 4 is a new one again? the stories would be shorter and probably not that good. (last part only matters if you care for the story)
4 well i did say maps and hunts. which one is limited and one isn't i personally like both.
5 could always get another way to get some exp (no idea just a suggestion) we got dungeons/fates/side quests course side quests run out (maybe repeatables? sorta like leves/like beastmen but not limited)
6 didn't mean to imply you wanted them removed i just meant to say they are short for players who want to raid but can't do raids that take a long time (once again not learning long just actually doing it)

1. The SMN / SCH is my point that you can have a base class and then have them work completely different by specializing and still keep balance. It doesn't have to be a skill tree like WoW, just some sort of customization so not everyone is the same. If every class had the same thing as SCH/SMN treatment, I'd be happy. Also that's exactly my point about the vit/str, there is a clear choice, but it's situational.. It's not that they ALWAYS pick one or the other, so there is no illusion of choice, it's just smart and bad ones depending.
2. Shorter story is not necessarily bad. Take Tam Tara Deepcroft Hard mode for example.
If you get bored of FF then move on to another game for a bit and come back when you want. The game is still there when you come back. As for me I am having too much fun with the end game content.
Housing, Gold Saucer, Triad, Choco Racing, Glamour Hunting, Minion Hunting, Crafting, Gathering, Exploring, Hunts, leveling alts, Gardening, Talking to my FC and that is not even my end game content coming up next week.
