I think everything aside from Endgame is spiced up in 3.0.
And did Yoshida mean All of 2.0 or just 2.0? I'm all for seeing how all of 3.0 will flesh out. I mean It did just come out.

You could go back and do undersized party clears of Coils and Ex Primals or you could level and clear the end-game content with a different job/role.
Sure the format is generally the same but you can approach it and challenge it in different ways to try to make it fun again.
This is a you problem, there's so much to do in this game I can't imagine being bored.
You might just not enjoy the things this game offers. I'm always crafting, gathering, doing stuff at gold saucer, helping people get primal clears, playing triple triad, leveling...it's rare I'm actually standing still.
That was kinda the point what new thing? I agree it would be nice if the developers added something new, but for the most part no one has come up with much. The whole adding skill trees and making people farm multiple sets of gear is less casual friendly which FFXIV has been very casual friendly and I do not see that changing. Not to mention that it would still not be enough for OP and would barley give you more game time. I don't have anything, but within the toybox we have what do you want added to spice things up and stay casual friendly? I think better PvP which they just announced more stuff, lets see if it sticks, since the other PvP things did not.

Adding skill trees and multiple gear sets can definitely be added in a casual friendly way - Guild Wars 2 did just this. That said, I don't want a carbon copy of Guild Wars 2, I quit that game for a reason :PThat was kinda the point what new thing? Ideas to make things more interesting:
- Have more than just 1 raid, imagine if we only had 1 dungeon to queue into.. ugh
- Have the raid have proper AI so it's not just memorizing a dance, and is actually challenging every time
- Have competitions, nothing keeps things interesting like a good old fashion competition. This could be simple leader boards for completion times on Savage etc
- Add non-raid open-world challenges for glamour purposes (Similar to Odin/Behemoth, but limited in party size - creature spawns for a party member maybe, as they are just mass zerg fests and make the glamours actually more appealing)
- Add replayability to previously played story content (go to your journal, select a quest and hit activate to reply the story)
- Add end-game content that is not simply a boss fight or pulling trash, but that gives you a sense of adventure and a journey.
I am sure I could think of more, but right now that's all I got.

If you want an MMO that has intricate endgame gameplay, requires you to spend hours calculating strategies, and has a high risk/reward option, you should be playing something like EVE Online.
XIV is the jack of all trades of MMOs now - a little bit of endgame, a little bit of PVP, a little bit of solo work like crafting/gathering, a lot of story that comes in chunks every month or two.
I agree with your post, but I'm pretty sure endgame is far from being the focus of SE with FFXIV atm. It is just here for the sake of being here.
If you played stuff like everquest, WoW, FFXI or other old MMO you know that FFXIV endgame cannot really be considered as raiding (even though it is not necessarily easy). I'm pretty sure a lot of gamers who are raiding in FFXIV currently do so because, currently, the traditionnals raiding games are growing old and no new similar games are being released.

I hated GW2 skill system just so you now >.< (GW FTW still my fav skill system in an mmo). Also GW2 was pretty much I play 2hander sword and single sword/pistol Mesmer and I had like one or two choices for talent tree (more one or the other weapon choices). If switched gear maybe I could change the trees, but it did not really add anything to the game. Regardless raids get played less than dungeons (which is why you see less). Second one sounds like a deff cool idea. Third one is kinda whatever most people will not care and the few that do will love it (me being someone who could careless). Would love a few more odin/behemoth fates. I think the story idea would be really nice they already want me to play one or two characters, let me redo story for exp and the joy of redoing the great story. That last one is what I was mentioning I think GW2 has a few things like jumping puzzles (I tired one and gave up but I know people that loved them.). I think if an mmo could come up with good endgame mmo unique content that was not just a raid it would rock.

I 100% agree Justinjarjar, GW1 amazing skill system, GW2 I also hated. My point was that people did it while catering to casuals, not that I like how they did it :P
I did love GW2 Jumping Puzzles (the thing they did the best imo) and that would be a great addition to FFXIV. I definitely think that end-game doesn't have to mean raiding, but right now I am not loving the alternatives. Triple Triad, Gold Saucer, Chocobo racing, Sightseeing, Crafting, Gathering, Hunts are all extremely boring to me. I'm at the point that I log in, jump in circles around the goblet/idyllshire while chating for 1 hour, maaaaybe do a roulet, maaaaybe do a run of Alex and then log out.
I mean off topic but I hated what GW2 did to Mesmer. I love the lore of that game but the game-play drove me away. I also loved PvP in guildwars the only other PvP I did as an endgame option was WoW and I got bored of that in about a month.I 100% agree Justinjarjar, GW1 amazing skill system, GW2 I also hated.
