I think everything aside from Endgame is spiced up in 3.0.
And did Yoshida mean All of 2.0 or just 2.0? I'm all for seeing how all of 3.0 will flesh out. I mean It did just come out.

You could go back and do undersized party clears of Coils and Ex Primals or you could level and clear the end-game content with a different job/role.
Sure the format is generally the same but you can approach it and challenge it in different ways to try to make it fun again.
That was kinda the point what new thing? I agree it would be nice if the developers added something new, but for the most part no one has come up with much. The whole adding skill trees and making people farm multiple sets of gear is less casual friendly which FFXIV has been very casual friendly and I do not see that changing. Not to mention that it would still not be enough for OP and would barley give you more game time. I don't have anything, but within the toybox we have what do you want added to spice things up and stay casual friendly? I think better PvP which they just announced more stuff, lets see if it sticks, since the other PvP things did not.

Adding skill trees and multiple gear sets can definitely be added in a casual friendly way - Guild Wars 2 did just this. That said, I don't want a carbon copy of Guild Wars 2, I quit that game for a reason :P
Ideas to make things more interesting:
- Have more than just 1 raid, imagine if we only had 1 dungeon to queue into.. ugh
- Have the raid have proper AI so it's not just memorizing a dance, and is actually challenging every time
- Have competitions, nothing keeps things interesting like a good old fashion competition. This could be simple leader boards for completion times on Savage etc
- Add non-raid open-world challenges for glamour purposes (Similar to Odin/Behemoth, but limited in party size - creature spawns for a party member maybe, as they are just mass zerg fests and make the glamours actually more appealing)
- Add replayability to previously played story content (go to your journal, select a quest and hit activate to reply the story)
- Add end-game content that is not simply a boss fight or pulling trash, but that gives you a sense of adventure and a journey.
I am sure I could think of more, but right now that's all I got.

you may want a fake choice but i sure don't. skill trees are nice fluff to look at like hey look i could use these worthless skills but naaah.
more raids = longer between patches and i personally like how things are.
completion times for people? sure no harm there.
we already have these non raid open world things they are hunts/maps we have both versions (limited/not limited)
replaying story would be nice just no exp (as it goes against what the devs want)
the reason why the end game raids are short is because time restrictions SE wants to keep them in a certain time frame so making a long raid lowers the already low raid pool.
(not invalidating your opinions just throwing my thoughts into it)
OOPS! i forgot one part (random ai) with bosses having a more reactionary mechanics (where what they do next isn't set) their damage goes down, you would only be trading set hard set mechanics for easy weak mechanics. (mountain buster now does 50% less damage because he can use it multiple times heck it would prolly do less)

1. Fake choice, doesn't have to be that way. I am sorry you feel that way. If it was that way, then there would be one clear choice between SCH and SMN, there would be one clear choice between STR and VIT on tanks. There isn't.
2. I like the content patches scheudle, but I'd rather have a variety of stuff than everything in one area. Like coil, we had 13 turns of coil. I would have preferred much less turns and then other raids with different themes elsewhere. Same development time, but variation.
3. -
4. The current hunt system is a zerg fest, I specifically said this would be limited to your party via spawning
5. Agreed, though having exp on your alternate jobs would help make leveling secondaries more interesting. Grinding fates/dungeons is pretty lame.
6. I am not saying remove short end-game raids, I am saying add in stuff that includes a journey with it (or at least some sense of adventure). However, I agree that the reasoning behind the short end game raids makes sense.

1 not sure if you are referring the jobs as skill trees or not. so not 100% how to reply there is no choice between sch/smn because you can have both, with skill tree we would get say 100 points and put them into either tree.
tanks have a pretty clear choice, have enough hp? yes? get str. no? get hp. most content is easy enough that it doesn't matter, but get into raids and people start caring what stats you have.
2 so like the first 4 turns is coil the next four is alex then the last 4 is a new one again? the stories would be shorter and probably not that good. (last part only matters if you care for the story)
4 well i did say maps and hunts. which one is limited and one isn't i personally like both.
5 could always get another way to get some exp (no idea just a suggestion) we got dungeons/fates/side quests course side quests run out (maybe repeatables? sorta like leves/like beastmen but not limited)
6 didn't mean to imply you wanted them removed i just meant to say they are short for players who want to raid but can't do raids that take a long time (once again not learning long just actually doing it)

If you want an MMO that has intricate endgame gameplay, requires you to spend hours calculating strategies, and has a high risk/reward option, you should be playing something like EVE Online.
XIV is the jack of all trades of MMOs now - a little bit of endgame, a little bit of PVP, a little bit of solo work like crafting/gathering, a lot of story that comes in chunks every month or two.
I agree with your post, but I'm pretty sure endgame is far from being the focus of SE with FFXIV atm. It is just here for the sake of being here.
If you played stuff like everquest, WoW, FFXI or other old MMO you know that FFXIV endgame cannot really be considered as raiding (even though it is not necessarily easy). I'm pretty sure a lot of gamers who are raiding in FFXIV currently do so because, currently, the traditionnals raiding games are growing old and no new similar games are being released.

I hated GW2 skill system just so you now >.< (GW FTW still my fav skill system in an mmo). Also GW2 was pretty much I play 2hander sword and single sword/pistol Mesmer and I had like one or two choices for talent tree (more one or the other weapon choices). If switched gear maybe I could change the trees, but it did not really add anything to the game. Regardless raids get played less than dungeons (which is why you see less). Second one sounds like a deff cool idea. Third one is kinda whatever most people will not care and the few that do will love it (me being someone who could careless). Would love a few more odin/behemoth fates. I think the story idea would be really nice they already want me to play one or two characters, let me redo story for exp and the joy of redoing the great story. That last one is what I was mentioning I think GW2 has a few things like jumping puzzles (I tired one and gave up but I know people that loved them.). I think if an mmo could come up with good endgame mmo unique content that was not just a raid it would rock.
