    Boring Endgame

I beat all of the coils (t1-t13) before they got nerfed and will probably end up finishing alex savage before nerfing as well.. anyways it dawned on me and a few friends the other night..

endgame in 14 is pretty boring.
wish SE would have spiced it up with HW.

But .. seems like more of the same from 2.x..

would be nice to have something challenging to do.
    Current game is like
    1. grind tomes
    2. learn raid
    3. get weekly loot
    4. grind hunts
    5. repeat.
    thats it..
on top of that, there isnt much uniqueness about the loot.
    do something please SE

Although I personally don't mind the current state in which square is approaching the end game (taking from the 2.X patches) I do wish they would add a little more variety in the end game raiding. As cool as the binding coils was, I wish it would have ended a little quicker and they would have done something else. I'm hoping that Alexander isn't going to be the main raid throughout all of heavensward.

But as it stands, I don't really have issues finding things to do, mind you I try and take advantage of everything the game has to offer (crafting, all the side quests). With the amount of time I have to put into the game vs what they release in content patches I easily get my moneys worth. But that's just me.

I can see how it might be a little dry for those who just focus on the end game raiding.

    1. Drink beer
    2. Find someone to laugh at
    3. Wander around some more
    4. Get another beer
    5. Get into dungeon run, tell everyone "come with me if you want to live"
    6. BRB, restroom run before final boss
    7. Get another beer
    8. Kill it, laugh with everyone, "have a great nite all"
    9. Repeat.

I don't fault you for feeling this way. Mmos largely exist to waste time. But this is similar to 2.0 in content but there is more with all of the old game. For you there isn't much to do if all you do is Endgame. And I understand that.

Endgame is tough to mete out because you have to make it worth it and currently all we chase is just i level.

It is what it is, a theme park MMO. It's great for people who does not play every single day for 6-8 hours. But I can see those who play longer hours can get bored rather quickly. This game is heavily catered to casuals who logs in and play for 3-4 hours at most, and probably not every day either. For those players, this game is more than plenty with variety of things to do.

Not sure what you are looking for, if you have an idea for something different the mmo genre would love it since AMMO, MMORPG, whatever has very similar get to max level, gear for raid, do raid for more gear, rinse and repeat. Some games have a PvP option that turns into get some maps everyonce in a while or get new gear that you need to grind out which once again many people get tired of it. I tend to switch on and off with games to not do one thing too long. I also don't play video games as much as many people, so FFXIV has enough content to keep me happy, but that is as a casual. I think wildstar tried to be almost completely focused on hard end game and they learned that hardcore raiders an mmo cannot sustain,

For me personally, the issue with Wildstar had nothing to do with difficulty or end-game and entirely to do with their class and skill balance and interrupt meta.

As for the OP. I can relate somewhat, I was hoping for a bit more in expansion.

I swear that I read Yoshi said that 2.0 was to get the basics and 3.0 would spice things up. In that, I was expecting end-game to be more varied and try new things, gear to be more interesting (new stats, gear sets and a bit more horizontal progression), possibly adding job customization/traits etc. So far I haven't seen 3.0 spice things up and it seems to largely be a repeat of what we're used to. The usual counter-argument is why would you expect it to change? My answer is because they said it would.
