Wait, why does it surprise anyone that someone wiped to Moogle Mog XII on their first few attempts? There is enough randomness in the fight that it can wipe veteran players due to a poorly placed moogle-go-round. Plus its not like raid mechanics are naturally intuitive in any sort of way. Try comparing fights in an MMORPG to something like the witcher, where you can learn about an enemy via the game's mechanics prior to fighting them. Walkthroughs on youtube might be part of the ecosystem, but they are not part of the game.

I'm not saying it is wrong, I'm just saying it isn't surprising that people are confused.

Indeed they NEED to think of a solution in the long term since story content will keep getting bigger and bigger and catching up to whatever the current expansion is, will take weeks if not more (for casual players).
I don't know of a solution, but "skipping" it makes no sense in the current context, the story of 3.0 onward makes little sense without knowing what happened in 2.0.

Maybe once an expansion is out, leveling a new character could have the option to do only certain quests, basically the relevant highlights of the older expansions and the rest of the MSQ fillers) could be presented as voiced slides in-between the key points. It may sound like a lot of work but it isn't really, not compared to the benefits of opening up the game to new players in later expansions.

The lazy (imo) and cheap approach would simply be to allow a player to skip every single quest (consider it made) up to the current expansion's first quest, unlock all cut-scenes and such, also unlock absolutely all dungeons automatically as you level up (including the side-ones, you can do the quests but they're not mandatory anymoe) from all older-than-current expansions.

There are ways, ways that would impact the older players very little.
New players that care for the story should be allowed to experience it however, if the choose to. Removing older content for "speeding up" reasons would be terrible.

True, introducing this concept to people who have been either conditioned by WoW or the clone model of other MMOs, is probably quite the jolt, and not everyone is going to like it. If some people give it a chance however, they may end up appreciating it. Just like everything in life, people have different tastes. People need to realize this is a story based MMO, that's really what sets it apart from the other MMOs atm. Everything is explained in the lore(even the reason for PvP.)

People need to realize the story isn't something to think of as a barrier that prevents you from accessing the expansion and such. Rather the story IS the game, you're playing it at that very moment. Enjoy the journey. Outside of story, you have two dungeons which give you tomes, two extreme mode primals, and a single raid. All of these things will be here for you weeks from now, and you'll be caught up I promise you.

As a programmer your incomplete IF/THEN/ELSE statements frustrate me.

Did I have to draw a picture to show I meant on Amazon and such sites? I actually took your own quote from a few posts ago. Jesus.
Because that is the purchase site not the informational site. Its there so you can purchase the game. Its has just enough information to verify that you are purchasing the product you want. Its not there to help you figure out which product you want to purchase.

Yes there is a lot of ragequitting so get used to it.
Every piece of content has been nerfed and made faceroll, because people whined at anything that posed even the slightest challenge. So now everything should be able to be passed while watching Netflix, and if you still somehow fail, everyone will instantly leave the party

In my case, they can leave the entire story line intact. I just want to be able to walk in to the damn zones, to gather at the new nodes. I have plenty of classes I can move the story forward on but the bulk of my game is spent on DoH and DoL. I am being forced to power through the MSQ to play those aspects. I don't want to but short of buying all mats on the market, that's how I am being forced to do it.

Sounds like you have dps trying to focus the King before killing the Pom-guard.

When you push the King's health down to 75% before killing off the moogles, he pretty much 1-shots the party, or you took too long in killing the moogles. You can leave up to 3 alive and still survive his ultimate attack, but any more than 3 Pom-guard remaining and you guys are ko'ed

My advice, just tough it out a bit more, I said the exact same thing when I hit the story wall at lvl 50.
Many people mirror this mindset of FFXI, and to an extent it's a lie. Yes, players were put up with bad players, bad parties, bad experiences, and all of the above without saying anything. However , that would not stop them for talking about your back and recreating an MMO version of your worst High School experiences. There were many back stabbing stories, internal Linkshell (Free Company) drama, stealing, conniving, everything. The difference between this game and 14 is that the latter is much more in your face than the former. Do I think the overall attitude is on a lower scale than XI? Yes, and I firmly believe it has to do with what the game promotes and the type of integrity you need to possess to gain the coveted shinies. Still.. rose glasses, people.
