"Unzan" and "Izayoi" used as example names.
Touhou fan detected.
Oh dear god, I think I'm going to have to try being a Xaela now. These people are freakin' crazeballs.
I might be alone, but I think those naming conventions were worth the wait.
Sheesh, so much funky info!
So is it the Qalli or Alli tribe? This is important for reasons <_<
Still wish we got these sooner. Even though I already decided which tribe, with all those clans to choose form it's going to be tough to pick a name for my Xaela. Avagnar sounds cool and would fit an exiled adventurer I guess.
That feeling when your character's name is correct and that the last name is simply the Eorzean translation. Easily handwaved. :P
I'm probably just going to keep the name I use now, as that's the name people got to know my character as, and maybe keep the other name as like a secret name that she only lets her closest friends and family know.
Eorzean translation for surname works for me!

While translation is a large part of our job, what is not known by many is that the EN localization team plays a large role in the creation of a lot of in-game terminology and lore which is then localized back into Japanese (with liberties often taken by the Japanese team so that the text might appear more appealing to their target Japanese audience).
