First thing that came to mind was actually Mustadio. He had a gun, he had alot of support stuff. And I may be wrong about this, but i do believe his class was actually Machnist.
Or maybe it was Chemist. I dunno.

That's a dumb point. Because the Machinist in Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward is, you know, very very gun focused.
I get that you don't agree with, or probably just flat out don't like, a character named Barret Wallace being a Machinist, albeit in a game where Machinists use guns and turrets (which are also, you know, guns) to damage and debuff mobs. I totally get it.
I get that you're a Machinist purist, or whatever, and you feel like the name Edgar or Vincent or Mustadio or whoever would tickle your fit better. I do.
And in the context of this thread, as it relates to this specific version of Final Fantasy?
It means absolutely nothing.
I'll see all you Balmungers in Heavensward with my new shiny gun(arm-ament).
Cheers.
Nooo I am going to stop you from rolling the new class, by any means necessary!
Well, it started by saying that Vincent was more like the FFXIV MCH than Barret might be.That's a dumb point. Because the Machinist in Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward is, you know, very very gun focused.

Zohar said Barret was more of a Machinist and then said he wasn't talking about the FFXIV version but a pure one.
That's when panda said that if we're going to talk about pure, then it's about Edgar who wasn't gun focused at all.
So the context of the thread changed when Zophar, who was agreeing with you, talked about Barret being closer to MCH beyond FFXIV.
Vincent is not really a MCH at all, but he's a bit more similar to this version.
A bit close conceptually if you take Dirge of Cerberus into account.
Barret does have some similarlties as well though.
Are you guys really fighting about a simple name? XD I thought this was a thread for excited future machinists! :P
I really hope that grenades are not clunky. I could totally see DPSing on this job as a chore. And I am what you might call lazy.
As a whole, I like what this job is offering. Weapon break and Mind Shot + MP/TP regen sounds really good.
If it plays well and looks cool, it will be an attractive job to have leveled.
The one thing that does disappoint me a little, is that they have a chain combo, and that there's only 1. 123 123 123 is just... boring. Everything else, I'm stoked about. That's really my one gripe. Still can't wait to try it out though.
Content too hard? Too much rng? Too much effort for the item you want?
Not to be a nag or anything, but the Machinist specifically draws from a category of Infantrymen most commonly referred to as the Musketeer. These types of Soldiers date back all the way to the Ming Dynasty of China (circa 1368-1644). The most famous Musketeers of all time however were the French "Musketeers of the Guard" (1622), from whom the famous story "The Three Musketeers" was inspired!
To say that the Machinist does not draw upon the "Medieval Fantasy" aspect of the game is totally and completely false.
Then there is the fact that the Final Fantasy Series as a whole has featured just about every version of the Steam Punk flavor you can think of. Steam Punk itself (which is what the Machinist class is likely to largely be flavored after) really got its start in Final Fantasy in the game Final Fantasy V, but it reached its logical evolutional peak in Final Fantasy VI, which was about as Steam Punk as you can get and a game which the entire Garlean Empire in this game is based upon.
