I think what they should do is just not come out with any more tomestone gear. Let esoterics be the end all for tomestone gear so that way casuals can get that gear and never have to upgrade their gear until the next level cap raise. All of the casual content could be balanced to be beaten in tomestone of law gear.

Then the raid gear could go a little higher than that, and each time a harder tier of raids is released they could put in more gear to suit the level of difficulty of the raids. So then the raiders that want to continue to grow their characters could do that too.

BOOM win-win.... everyones happy. Casuals never have to upgrade their gear and raiders can continue to grow their characters through raids. Problem Solved.... Your welcome!

Where did this idea that people that play the game casually don't want to upgrade their gear comes from? If this idea were implemented you'd lose the "casual" crowd in a heartbeat because they'd cap their gear and leave.

From this post, almost everyone that is voting horizontal is doing so because they don't like having to grind a new set of tomestone gear. So, don't make a new set of tomestone gear and they won't have to grind it. I'm genius!

Then they will have more time to do other things, like raid, or craft, or chocobo race, or triple triad tourneys, or iono ERP or something.

I would think people who are voting horizontal are mostly raiders who want their hard-earned gear to last forever, like it did in FFXI.

Casuals don't mind getting new gear, they just don't want it to take 1000 attempts at the same one piece of content to get one drop.

I'd argue those people aren't casual. Just. . . uh, I can't think of a nice way to say it, so I won't.

But complaining about farming tomestones for new gear every few months as a direct upgrade per class is too much but farming multiple gear sets for every class that you need to have and keep on you because fights are balanced around having different set ups along the horizontal progression OR it just being the same thing but with more math if fights aren't set up that way. . . well it's something.

I mean it's basically "I hate grinding gear! Make me grind more gear!"
