To be fair, it doesn't matter when you start, if you're doing dungeons with 50 ilv below other people, most of the time, they won't be happy.. Especially for a tank. I level'd a WHM specifically for that reason because I knew my WAR would have trouble while gearing up. So I got my WAR a full set of gear before hitting the dungeons and it went swimmingly.

Tanks get a lot of perks while running dungeons, such as setting the pace for the run, shorter queues, you can basically hold the run hostage if you want. With all those perks, comes the responsibility of having to get the basics down. Nothing can salvage a run with an inadequate tank..

Just do some hunts and gear up using tomes, start doing trials for poetics then buy the i120 weapon, that should get you going pretty well.

Now, if your reason for failing is not in the gear.. then you'll have problems, I have a friend that quit tanking just for this reason and I hear about the same thing happening other people as well. 'Tis the tank's life.

P.S. Let's not worry about what new players will do in 3.0. Just worry about what you and your bf will do to gear up. We don't have to make this into a bigger problem than it is.. Because at the core of it, you're just tired of how people treat you guys which is completely valid.. Trying to start an all-inclusive campaign to make this a happy rainbow filled place for the "new" players that aren't even in the game yet, not necessary, they'll figure it out on their own.. Chances are, it'll take them hell of a lot shorter than 3 days to get to ilv66 too because it'll be streamlined.
