A huge disadvantage for new players?

New players that don't have the time to play several hours a day are definitely at a disadvantage. They're basically limited to the lower ilvl dungeons, which don't give much tomes. They can't do roulettes, so they don't get the tome bonus either. It takes quite a while to get even soldiery gear if you've only got time to do 1 or 2 dungeons. Of course, you could try hunts or get crafted i90/i110 gear to help you along the way somewhat.

It's a shame they made the darklight and myth tomes gear relatively hard to obtain, would've loved the see them still be buyable for tomes. Like, 100 soldiery for myth chest piece or something would help quite a bit.


That said, new players on Phoenix are welcome to send me a tell if they want to run a stress-free dungeon of any level. As long as I'm not busy I'd be happy to heal or dps (maybe even tank if really necessary, but I'm a sucky tank )

Can get a full set of Ilvl 90 including a weapon by doing pvp frontlines very very quickly. win or lose.

I would suggest that, once you're in i90 it becomes a joke to go higher. i also advise getting your relic zenith asap, it'll give you a good strong i90 weapon, and if you choose to, you can bring it higher by starting the zodiac weapon grind.

I actually think before heavensward they should maybe adjust the drop locations for darklight stuff to a spot like WP/AK Normal mode :x

Just ignore them griefers, and when bad issues are within FC, well, leave it and search another.

Then, High Level duties is the place where you meet that kind of players more often, so no surprises. I'm gearing my 2nd alt tank and happens sometime a i135 succeed on pull aggro away (and he tried hard) just to have the fun to tell "bad tank" in chat. I'd just ignore and go ahead. Until I do my job at my best I'm fine. If my skill not on their preference list who cares, I don't have to marry them, neither they give me a job to live on.

It is great you are tanking, when they kick you it is their loss on find another, and you and your mate will instapop next one

When you find good people ask them where they play, maybe you get ones on your server and will join them.

I'd like to see it drop in Aurum Vale. Then they can have gear ready for when they hit 59, instead of hitting a 'wal' of sorts. It'd also support then doing more AV runs.

I mean I know it's a strange idea but I do think it would be helpful to have it dropping on all those base dungouns

That'd make sense, considering those were the ones most people used to grind for philo tomes to buy the darklight =)

I have mix feelings about this topic and can understand both sides.

For one I do not suggest people to level/gear tanks and to a lesser extent healer for their first Job as a new character if they are trying to catch up with other players for obvious reasons. A undergeared tank / healer is alot more noticeable than an undergeared DPS and people are usually more lenient towards undergeared DPS. Think this is mainly because Tanks and Healers are normally more patient than people that play DPS.

And what type of FC are you in? If its a raiding one then its understandable if they don't help you gear new characters. Should look for a more casual FC, but don't expect people to help you with everything, not because they are unhelpful, but because of time constraints. Not everyone have alot of time to play, so the little time they do have they will have to do their stuff. For Example, I only play about 1 to 2 hours a day nowadays cause of my schedule, I pretty much just do my daily roulette and beastman quest and maybe 1 or 2 dungeons. Back when the game first came out though, me and like 5 or 6 others use to carry our newbie FC members through their Relic weapons (back when Titan HM was actually hard). We use to help get like 10~20 relic every weekend. The most was like 30 in one weekend when we merged with another FC. We did that for like a good 2 or 3 months.

Easiest way to gear is probably to just do a bunch of dungeon for soldiery and you can get yourself to ilevel 100 pretty easily and also crystal tower once you can enter.

Come Heavensward, I think it will actually be easier since everyone will be undergeared again, the newbies just have to level quick.

I actually didn't know about this change, but i honestly don't think this is a good idea... For example say that three in your party is ilevel 130, but one is ilevel 70... This will create issues where people will just kick the ilevel 70 person so that they won't have to take twice the amount of time to do the dungeons.

I think those are new optional settings.. There'd be far too much troll potential to automatically sync everyone down to the lowest iLvl player.. Titan HM with 8 people at the minimum iLvl for Titan HM will be a rather painful experience
