    Any SinX from Ragnarok Online can tell you that Sonic Blow had animation delay. So no, its not just from FFXIV.

    The whole issue with holmgang, benediction and hallowed ground stem from the fact that they go on CD before they actually "activate". The activation for these skills is closer to the middle of the animation, not on the actual button press.

    The animation is well over before it actually takes effect, as far as Hallowed Ground is concerned anyway.

    No its not. The effect comes up right as the shields are about to disappear.

    In a perfect world yes, but activation and effect are two different things. While all skills "activate" instantly putting the skill on cooldown, all "effects" are not instant. This can be said for all DPS cooldowns as well, if you die as you are activating them, the effect will never come on your character. NINs perfect dodge functions the same way as well.

    Shouldn't the cooldown occur after the activation?
