Because most modern MMOs are focused on end game content, it only makes sense that many would want to just jump to the fun.
Very few people enjoy the levelling process, I'm just playing devils advocate here, not necessarily something I agree with.
MMO's are very different now to what they used to be and continuously changing to appease the masses.

I'm guessing it'll be sort-of secondary jobs for other classes. They're probably "fixing" the attribure point allotment problem by making the jobs use one class' abilities up to level 30 and get their own unique abilities for the 30-60 levels. For example, Dark Knight won't be getting Marauder's abilities starting from level 31.
Edit: Forgot to mention I'm guessing they'll start from level 30.

Not really a fan, just supports that they have no plans to flesh out world content and are focused soley on the endgame grind. I'll wait for more information but if the developers are reading...I'm not a supporter of this.

Just adding a bit more fuel to the fire since someone linked a Reddit Interview @ PAX in a different thread:
I still stand by "Level 30" as my guess, then.RPGamer: For the new jobs in the game, do they start at level 1? And if so are the new zones and quests for those classes or do they have to return to old zones to level up?
Yoshida: (Editor’s note: This question will read a bit difficult because it was mistranslated at first but thanks to Matt Hilton was corrected. I've included both answers because I think they both provide worthwhile information.) Heavensward is an expansion so if you create a brand new character that character will start at level one. So the areas within Heavensward will be level fifty one and beyond. So if you have a character that is at level one they will have to revisit the Realm Reborn areas. There may be questions because there is a system in WoW where you can either start off with a higher level character or purchase a higher level character. Those apply to games that have been around for a while, eight to ten years, and those initial levels are just way too far back in history that it would take forever to get to the current level. But A Realm Reborn has only been around for about one and a half years, almost reaching that two year mark so we feel there’s still enough time to go through and take your time to revisit the areas in a Realm Reborn and there’s still many new players that are coming on board to the world of XIV so we feel that there’s not too far of a gap between a very new player and the more experienced players. So we encourage players to explore the areas in A Realm Reborn and we don’t feel that it is time to offer an official powered up version. In terms of jobs we don’t start at level one.
Reddit: Specifics? Numbers?
Yoshida: We’re still in the final tweaking stages on where we’re going to have them start but definitely not at level one. If we mention it I’m sure so many people are going to try and get ready and get a head start. We’re going to keep it a secret as long as we can. It definitely won’t start at level one so you won’t have to scramble to get through things such as guildleves.

because apparently dong the exact same thing for levelling is your cup of tea ? >_>
or you must enjoy the brainless 1-2-3 bashing that FATEs are.
I don't know which option would be the worst. If you don't enjoy end game, you're not likely to enjoy levelling in dungeon, leaving the brainless FATEs (I do not pay to bash 3 keys. there are good free rythm games for that) or the boring leves (no difficulty at all, redundants, etc...)

where are people getting that Idea that the new jobs will branch off of existing ones ? >_> that doesn't make sense for any of them.

Just because you might not like it doesn't mean they aren't planning things out.It really feels like they're just randomly making stuff up as they go with no planning.
"Jobs will be like specialists you'd want to play in a party while classes will be used for soloing."
"Classes will branch into multiple jobs and ACN/SMN/SCH will be the first!"
"We didn't want to make THF into its own job so we made it into a class instead, please feel that ROG is like THF."
"New jobs won't have base classes at all."
The whole ROG/THF thing was and is one of the dumbest things for people to be angry about. It's like the difference between someone calling a bow wielder either "Bowmaster", "Ranger", or "Archer". There's literally no play style difference, it's just the name that changes. People mad that it wasn't called thief is one of the most puzzling things. I've played a few FF games, and it doesn't have all of the functionality of THF, but it has some key things that allows you to appreciate that it might as well be called THF at the class level. They couldn't do it, due to lore. They actually care about their game's story being at least a little cohesive. Get over it.
I don't remember them saying anything about classes having the explicit use of solo-play. I do remember them saying that they were viable for it, but they wanted Job's to be the only thing viable for end-game. Rightfully so, too. Why would you want to advance into a stronger character, and then revert to the lower level, less powerful skill set? This game doesn't offer enough customization (yet) to have classes be interesting in end-game scenarios anyway. You'd sacrifice really potent character assets just to access a few more watered down cross-classes? They thought that out way more than you're giving credit for.
I don't think they ever said that they wanted multiple Job branches, either. They wanted to try something new, and whether or not it was worthy of being called (good) innovation is up to you. This is the only one I can't really defend, because they probably just had the idea and rolled with it, but even then, why is that a bad thing?
And new Jobs not having base classes is going to be great. Something that I'm sure they thought out, and the game will benefit from.
