That to me says that people are being made to fear what doesn't have to be an issue.
It makes everything outside the hubs meaningless. There is no longer a world; there are only hubs you teleport to.

If you want the ultimately convenient experience, you chose the wrong genre. Go play Diablo, Monster Hunter or Phantasy Star instead. There is nothing more convenient than them. They're also not MMORPG's. They're online RPG's.

Playing in a world that mimics real life means inconveniences. That's the trade-off. You are forced to interact with other people, forced to use means of travel to get where you want to go. That's what makes this world what it is, and Eorzea what it is- or hopes to be. If you don't think not having to interact with anyone or having to travel the world doesn't somehow cheapen the experience, I don't know in what world you're living in.

The society has turned into an individualized one where you can do quite many things without.a need for any human interaction. Are we better off like this? Lets add teleporting to the mix and see what happens to us. I wouldn't like that kind of future, even if it meant ultimate convenience; no need to wait, to socialize, to make bonds.

Which is maybe why, before 1.18 and the Leve fix, nobody lived outside of Ul'dah and Broken Water? That was a smart move, in my opinion. Why not continue this trend?

Betel wins the thread. This is absolutely brilliant.

I asked you this before, and I guess you missed it so I'll ask again: What is it honestly going to hurt if people can teleport as many times as they like, whenever they like? What?-- People say it will take away from the purpose of the terrain, well, isn't that their personal choice to miss out on that? Nobody really complained when 100% of the population camped Ul'dah and Eastern Thanalan since release, as long as they got their 120k SP every 36 hours.

    I win.

    No you don't.

Lots of people complained about everyone living in Thanalan to level. That's why SE changed how people obtain guild marks, forcing players to pick up leves in their guild's respective cities.

It's about timesinks. Even with the current system, players have been pushing content into antiquity faster than SE is able to generate new content. Something has to be in place to artificially slow players down.

No, the answer is not "Well, SE should be generating content faster instead of using anima as a crutch to slow player progression." One only needs to look back to October of 2010 to see what happens when SE rushes something, and they can see right now the new life that 1.18 is breathing into the game as an example of what happens when SE takes the extra time to make sure things are done properly.

Yeah, and we all know how well the fatigue/surplus system went over with everyone. Even though leves got nerfed, by that time we were already in the anima system that we have today. Now that people might actually travel abroad, sometimes to places that they don't have on their favorites etc. to get their SP, wouldn't at least a further reduction be in order?

his words are contradictory to me, being able to port just means doing more with people. and this game is being created in the opposite direction or least it was where u can solo most things, and sadly is what lot of people i quess are looking for. i love party play it's the only type i like and teleporting with ease doesn't change that in any way, it strengthens it. you can all port from where ever and meet where ever and do whatever with ease. no restictions = more player on player interactions not less. fact they want all 3 cities with players in them, just make it free port to just the cities and i bet half the pop goes back to there home towns knowing they can just port back and forth.

only part of teleporting that should work is how parties in ffxi would meet and port together to get to camps, that was pretty fun stuff, fact i can say i loved that.
