Healer should not dps in the dungeons?

In my opinion, DPS'ing whilst healing should be optional. If you feel you can handle the heals then great, go for it. This game more then most seems to encourage DPS'ing whilst healing (Hence Cleric Stance etc...). But if someone is new to the healing game or the class, they may want to just concentrate on get the healing aspect right. Even if they just enjoy pure healing I do not really think they should be penalized.

whether the Healer is DPSing or not should be entirely up to that Healer and their comfort zone.

Pretty much how I feel. There's almost always a time in a dungeon where DPSing can be done by a healer and if you think you can pull it off while keeping the party alive, go for it. If you're not sure, either try to DPS or avoid doing it, it's all up to you as a healer.

I was in the snowcloack today and some kind of bard started whining about that cause i did dps and spam holy in the aoe pulls. Nobody died in that whole 15min dungeon and just before the last boss i get kicked from the party because i did dps as whm. If i keep everybody alive do it really matter if i m doing dps? They just said "you should only heal because your role is healer if you wanna dps you should roll dps"

You shouldn't DPS on hard content where MP is a problem, but on dungeons yes you should definitely DPS. You're not going to need to heal all the time and it doesn't help anyone for you to sit there doing nothing. Your group are a bunch of retards. Just ignore them.

As a tank, if a healer isn't dpsing I'll consider putting sword oath on to make up the dps lost, that is only if the healer isn't healing too, its not like there's much that can kill me or I could lose hate. Once or twice after putting sword oath on, the healer sometimes starts healing and dpsing which is even better.

Sadly I had those players like that bard too, I was proud of my DPS and my healing abilities but now I only tose cures and stoneskin, not really in the mood to argue about if i can or not dps anymore, got kicked twice just like OP said, certainly there are players who seems to know how exactly ppl should play their jobs...

Totally situational and based on how comfortable/capable you are as the party healer. I think it's awesome that you managed to keep everyone up while DPSing! Whenever I jump in to heal, I only DPS when I feel like I have the time to stance dance while the party is in good shape and there's some breathing room to apply the extra DPS. If things look like they're getting too intense, I stick to strictly healing. Whatever works best for you

As a Healer myself, the first priority is healing, but if everything is okay on that end, then go ahead and DPS a little, just make sure that you are paying attention to the HP of the party rather that the damage you are dealing out.

Tired of these heal only healers way back since CT where you get stuck with 4 melee and the healers still refuse to dps adds on atomos. As mentioned by many in this thread already, alot of the content the healer ends up just standing doing absolutely nothing for majority of the time. While your party is working to kill the mob/boss - you just get to stand there and do nothing! You want fries with that carry?

I actually agree that healers should DPS so long as the group is healed first. However my stance on this issue doesn't change the way you're acting to other players that have a difference belief then yourself. Going and personally attacking someone like that is not helpful, it's just plain mean.
