Lore or not do you REALLY wanna replace one of your good traits with reduced fall damage? I didn't think so.What annoys me that if there's a ground AoE and if you SSD / DFD and you fly across the AoE, you'll receive damage / debuff from it (Which happened to me with T11 gravity wells). I was like come on now, what's the point of making DRGs fly across the screen if you'll still get hit by something on the ground? If it's Shoulder Tackle, it makes sense since the MNK zooms to the boss. But DRG / NIN / BLMs are technically flying / teleporting o_O
That said, I totally agree with your 2nd point. That never made sense to me.
That's why I said it doesn't matter much outside of open world stuff and it is useless unless in the future there would be instances where the arena has cliffs and all those stuff that require the group to maneuver around the terrain. Because if we wanna implement lore on everything, DRGs would probably be the most OP DPS Job ever, and the fact that their primary method of movement is jumping from one place to another and they can cover like 1000 yalms per leap, they would be the most mobile Job as well.
DRG being affected by fall damages is the same logic as MNK being unable to throw their weapons outside of that one pvp ability, to make your class or another feel ❅special❅
More seriously I agree with OP, it's kind of very dumb that only NIN has this ability but not the Job that is always doing the Jumps, although I don't think it's a very useful trait but yeah, bad move on SE's part with the Lore.
How dare you use logic. How dare you sir.
I figured this one out in Haukke manor when levelling DRG, there's that bit where you can jump down into the basement you take a little bit of fall damage, but if you use jump on one of the mobs you can get down without damage.
somewhere someone posted that yoshi and gang were going to look at classes again, so hopefully... all the enhanced traits disappear for passives that actually make sense, like they did in 11, or even like every other mmo that does passives in broader aspects than "upgrades x skill this way or that"
1. falling damage isn't even a big thing in this game. 2. i just elusive jump off of everything. drg's take no falling damage with style.
I know DRG is kind of considered OPed now, but OPedness is transient.
Logically there is really no reason for DRG to take as much fall damage as say a WHM.
I would like to suggest that fall damage be absorbed by their TP bar. 100TP if falling from a height that would take off (100%-1) of a typical PC's HP (excluding NIN of course), it will then scale downwards, e.g. fall that takes off 50% of a typical PC's HP would result in a lose of 50TP for the DRG.
NIN takes less damage due to their metahuman level of physical conditioning.
DRG should take no damage due to their DRG training/technique - which consumes TP to negate fall damage.
To be honest, it isn't really that big a deal. Fall damage is not a big part of the game's combat mechanics. Any trait that reduces/negates fall damage is pretty much a gimmick trait.
This. And since every job has the same number of traits it is wasted space that could have been used much better for a trait that has an actual impact to the jobs gameplay and is useful in some way or another.
Seriously, it's the most useless trait in the game. ARR has a mechanic that makes it impossible to die to fall damage, you will survive with 1hp anyway. For this reason I'd like to ask the OP: why the hell do you want a trait, that every half serious nin complains about and doesn't bring anything to your job? Again, it would replace another trait, chose whichever you like. I don't get it...
